I got a message from eBay saying to update my account details.
"It’s now simpler to get paid on eBay
Getting paid has changed: Fees and expenses will be deducted before you get paid out and the remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. Get set up in a few easy steps."
I primarily just tend to leave all the money I receive in my PayPal, so I wanted to ask for clarification: does this mean sellers can no longer use PayPal as a means of payment? We have to store the money in a bank account now?
I also saw something saying eBay raised their fees. Is that also true?
Thanks for clarifying.

That's right, they're not giving you a choice; that should have been obvious since they started telling us about MP more than a year ago. And LOL at "ebay is trying to kill PayPal"; PayPal is worth about 7 times what eBay is worth.
Ebay isn't trying to "kill" PP. Ebay owns stock in PP and that would be financially harmful to Ebay to do such a thing.
Ebay use to own PP. In 2015 the companies split. A 5 year contract was born. In that contract it restricted Ebay from moving too far towards their own money processing system and it restricted PP from pursuing certain businesses to offer PP. That contracted ended last June. Now both companies are free to do as they please. PP will be just fine without the sellers on Ebay. PP still has buyers as they can continue to use PP. PP isn't going anywhere and they are financially healthy.
I'm well aware of all of that. Why was it necessary to tag me when I was simply ridiculing the response I quoted?
My bad completely. I took something you quoted as something you said and that was a mistake totally my fault. My apology.

I tried purchasing an item on eBay and PayPal was not an option, only PayPal credit or credit card. I have lots of money in my PayPal account. I was very disappointed.

No worries. I learn a lot from your posts. 🙂

When a buyer tries to submit payment via cash in their PP account, is this an issue for MP?
While this poster wasn't asking, while we are on the subject. What if a buyer wants to use PP to issue an Echeck? Is that allowed in MP and if so how is it handled?

I just want to be another voice in this thread to say - I don't want to share my banking info with any more websites than are totally necessary. The convenience of PayPal is so that websites don't have to save and hold your financial information in their system. PayPal helped to get eBay off the ground in the days when people were weary of online buying. Now, many people use it, many merchants accept it, and it just doesn't benefit the consumer at all to drop it and start requiring everybody's financial information.
Also, I guess we can all say goodbye the satisfaction and motivation of the instant payment process. Payments will now only be issued Monday through Friday, they will take 2 days to be sent, and then take however much longer your bank takes to process the funds. So in some instances, you might not actually get paid for about a week after someone buys from you. Sad.
I suppose that's still better than Mercari, where you don't even get paid until the buyer gets the item and bothers to leave you positive feedback. I suppose masochists need a place to sell their stuff too.

Mam - how to you refund a buyer?
02-05-2021 08:27 AM
After buyer has paid with PayPal and you are trying to refund with PayPal, but Ebay closed out your account with PayPal before you could refund? Is the buyer completely SOL?

There is a one time payout allowed, but the funny thing is Ebay will only allow that for "Ebay Fees"
Go figure.

It is really easy in MP. So easy that it is likely why you are overlooking it.
Seller Hub
Order
Find the order and on the left side there is a drop down menu. One of the options is to refund.

Ebay doesn't close ANYONE's PP account nor do they even have the authority to do it. You can still go to your PP account and find the transaction and refund from there like you have always been able to do.

Hi @mam98031 - There's no issue when a buyer uses their PayPal balance to purchase via managed payments.
When it comes to echecks: When eBay manages payments and buyers pay via PayPal, only instant transfer is accepted. This means when a buyer pays via bank funding in their PayPal account, they must have a backup funding instrument on file. This also means the transaction is cleared and will not change status later or in the event the buyer doesn’t have sufficient funds in their bank account.

Thank you so much for that clarification. Just one more for you. So buyers aren't allowed to pay with a Debit Card or CC via PP?

Do you get paid per hour, post, or are you a salary employee for EBay?
