Forcing you to give your checking account with routing number and Social Security number . I am not a big seller I just sold a few things I never used that I had then eBay locked my account AFTER selling some stuff saying I had to update my account. I refused to give my private information. I called eBay and of course I was tossed around from one person to another. I asked them why PayPal doesn’t ask you that kind of private information they allow you to use your bank card like a credit card and do two small deposits with one withdrawal to verify. If you are a business they only require your EIN number. Never do they ask you for your private information. Brittany from eBay the last woman I was talking to said well PayPal is a Financial company and a eBay is a market place. Ok so that supposed to make me feel comfortable giving Them my private information? That is supposed to tell me it’s Secure to do so? I had to ship the stuff I sold to the people because I’m not a jerk but eBay won’t give me my money. I told Britney I was deleting my account she sent me the link. Once I know the people received what they purchased ( because I’m honest) and want to make sure they got it even though it cost me money. I WAS a victim of fraud twice. My SS# was stolen and it ended up freezing my tax returns and the second time I had my bank account drained. I was told by the police to NEVER give your SS # out other than in person and never give your routing # out unless it’s in person or a government site which have very high security and Only if you need to exp: direct deposit tax return. I have never given it out since. There is NO good reason eBay needs that. They have documentation they took the sales tax out. Personally I think anyone that got ripped off by eBay and they will not give them their money back need to get together and sue eBay.

- Your ability to list new items, relist, and revise listings has been restricted and your active listings will be ended. Start selling again by updating your account details now at ebay.com/startpayments.{e73000-1134537x}
I fallowed directions until it asked for a bank account. I guess I won't be selling on ebay anymore! Off to offer up and 5mile...
This should not have come as any surprise to you. Ebay sends a few emails regarding this subject and each tell you that if you don't register by a certain date, what you describe will happen.
MP is a basic money processing program, so if you don't want to give them your banking information they have no way of getting your money to you. Not sure that you will like the requirements on Offerup any better.
What I often recommend to sellers is to open a separate personal checking account to attach to Ebay. I've used one for a long time and I feed all my online sales into this one account. It makes it much easier for accounting and keeps it away from my personal checking that I actively use for my life. There are all kinds of free accounts out there, you just need to do a little research.

Suggest filing a compliant with the Better Business Bureau in San Jose, CA, site of eBay's home office. Its a small, but easy step; and enough complaints will be noticed. If you merely complete the complaint with the BBB, eBay should contact you and you should at least get any eBay collected funds due to you.
Beyond that, the statement that you can't sue eBay is bull. If enough people get together, a class action lawsuit can be filed and eBay will have to deal with it. At most, probably people signing on will get little monetary recompense (beyond anything they already are due) but the cost to eBay could be substantial. eBay seems to think that it is too big to be taken down! What a joke! Far bigger and better than eBay have been brought low by news of their practices and malpractices being made common knowledge.
There are much better companies than eBay already out there doing what eBay is supposed to do, and doing it much better.
File the BBB complaint (and get any money due to you).

What exactly are you going to complain about? That a website OWNER has decided to set their payment terms? They have the right to do that as long as it is within the laws that control such things.
Ebay is the last of the bigger sites to bring their payment program sitewide. All the other larger sites have had theirs for years. This isn't abnormal.
I do understand for those that have only sold on Ebay this seems to be a crazy change and extremely hard for many Casual sellers to adapt to. But in reality it isn't unusual in the industry, the real unicorn here is PayPal. I too like PP quite a bit. I enjoy the flexibility of the program, but unfortunately Ebay has decided to go a different direction.
"There are much better companies than eBay already out there doing what eBay is supposed to do, and doing it much better. " What sites are you referring to?

This is so when next year they send you a 1099K they will send it to the right number, don't forget to claim that money after next tax year.

Ebay wants to get rid of private sellers. Those are the people who would object most strenuously to handing over access to EBay to their personal bank accounts. They only want stores. What’s weird is many people were ok with Direct Debit, it’s the personal banking info that raised hackles. It’s not just about hacking—EBay itself could just take money from you and you’d have to waste time getting it back. Or risk your house payment not processing because EBay got there first. No way!!

How do you come to that conclusion. Ebay is mostly Private Sellers. Not that most sellers are in MP I'm unsure how your statement might apply.
Now this is a very hard transition for Casual Sellers [those without a store]. It is absolutely the hardest on them.
Give Ebay your personal checking account info is so easy to get around I honestly don't even know why it is an issue. There are lots of free checking accounts to be had out there, open one and use it for your online transactions. It does not have to me any more difficult than that.
Ebay does not get full rights to the bank account. They can make deposits or withdrawals to cover a negative balance in your MP account but that is it. Others that have stated otherwise are simply trying to scare others and not basing it on the reality of the program.
Any site can be hacked. ANY SITE.

Paypal is a financial company with different rules and regulations, paypal also pays you almost immediatley when there is fraud on your account, EBAY is not listed under financial company so what happens when there is fraud on your account on their end ???? You all need to think about that! Paypal was safe... alot safer with better regulations!! EBAY ALREADY SUCKS AT CUSTOMER SERVICE..DO YOU REALLY WANT A BANKING PROBLEM WITH THEM NEXT AND HAVE TO SOLVE IT?

How are you defining "financial company"? Paypal is NOT a bank nor is Ebay. PayPal is a money transmitter and so is Ebay. Both are licensed.
https://payouts.paypal.com/hw2web/compliance/money-transmitter-license/licenses.xhtml
Both Ebay and PP have to comply with the same rules.
If you feel PP is safer because of the rules they have to comply with, then you should feel the same about Ebay as they also have to comply to the same rules as PP.

companies file tax and pay tax for their EMPLOYEES . yes we are NOT a employee of ebay. get that clear . ebay should not file tax nor release tax information to IRS directly. it should be to OWNERS ofaccount only.
that information is going to newely partnered Israles company it means you bank info SS numbers and ROUTING numbers and all that are viewed by outside of USA also since ebay is now financial partner with entitiy in Israel (Payonner) since ebay and paypal contract did not renew. YOU ARE RISKING all your data to oversea compnay that you have no idea . most of sellers on ebay are not even professonal retailers. this whole thing ebay started like newspaper ad. remember? we paid few dollars for pictures and list it and when it sold we paid flat ebay fee. or paid listing fee at the beginning. it was NOTHING LIKE PERCENT OF your sale price. that includs now SHIPPING FEE. !!! your total sales price you tax is based on SHIPPING FEE YOU AS SELLER PAID for . this is nothing short of a scam. and I want to see class action law suit to settle this kind of nonsense. WHY ANYONE PUT UP WITH THIS KIND OF ABUSE? what s going to be next.
ebay requires camera mounted in your house and need to see how you pack ? what packs . this has gotten out ofcontrol . they have hands in your wallet and pocket. we need to cut them off. !

You are taking this issue up where you can't get any action on it. Ebay is REQUIRED by LAW for file 1099Ks if the seller has met the threshold requirements to receive a 1099K. So you need to take this up with the IRS and Congress to get this changed.
US sellers do not deal with Payoneer.
I have no clue why FVFs on shipping have become a hot topic these days. It has NOTHING to do with MP and we have ALL been paying it for OVER 10 years.

Amen. I'm an occasional seller as well and just found out about this today.
I listed one item, it sold, and then got the message regarding the updates.
Give my bank info, routing # and SS number? Yeah, right...
Sent a message to the buyer regarding
not being able to accept her payment.
Saying buh bye to Ebay.

I”m done with Ebay. I use PayPal because they protect you. Giving a site your personal banking is not necessary. Good bye Ebay!
