Why would Ebay with hold funds from seller. Never happened to me in last twenty years.

What is the deal, I sold a quitar like two months ago, no problem. Money in my PayPal account immediately. I sell same quitar, different color and a bass, not a six string.  Now they are apparently with holding funds. It has been over 24 hours. They say I need to ship, I say "no way". Not until I see (get) the money. Ebay has become one of the worst platforms to sell from, from my perspective and  I say that based on last some twenty years buying and selling on it.

Did you contact ebay and ask them for the reason for the hold?

eBay may hold funds for up to 21 days or they may release it after delivery has been confirmed. The funds will never be released if it’s not delivered.

If you show eBay you can play by the rules, they will lengthen your leash.  There are time limited sales goals and a focus on customer service during this trail period.

Since you're in Managed Payments, your funds will no longer go to your Pay Pal account.

Once the buyer pays, the payment has to process and sent to Ebay, before they can send the funds to your checking account.

It'll probably be Tuesday or Wednesday before the payment is completed and ready to send to your account.

If you're not planning on shipping until the funds hit your checking account, you need to extend your handling time.

Have a great day.

You are now in MP.

Payment does not go to PP.

When the payment processes it will go to the checking account that you provided when you were opted in Managed Payments.

Slow typing.  See kens answer.

but to add to that.

When eBay confirms the buyer payment it will show the item as "Awaiting shipping" in the "Manage orders" section.  As it states there, the buyer payment is confirmed, and you should ship within your stated handling time. It is just like the PP "OK to ship".

I have been in MP for over 17 months, and have never had a payment fail to show in my checking after eBay MP confirmed it.

They are not holding the payment.

The item just sold yesterday and the payment is being processed through MP.

Have a great day.

With MANAGED PAYMENTS it takes 3-5 days before money is deposited into your CHECKING ACCOUNT.   Nothing goes into your PayPal anymore.

@waglersviper   To add to the other replies.... did you finish signing up for managed payments?  I know some sellers were moved into MP before they finished sign up.

You must provide your checking account and SS#.

The SS# is required due to anti-money laundering bank laws.
