Using Gift Cards

I received an eBay Gift card, but it appears now they can only be used for a BIN listing at full price (no offer) with this new immediate payment requirement.

I place a bid on an item and nope, it has to use my default payment method.  Tried to change it and nope, no provision is made for gift cards.  The same issue when making a Best Offer.  Can't use a gift card.  eBay is limiting the use of gift cards to Buy It Now items only.

Now, as a seller, I like the immediate payment requirement, but they need some way of attaching a gift card for future payments for items purchased.  Does anyone know of a workaround?????  Is there a way to opt-out of this immediate payment requirement???

Re: Using Gift Cards

This has been going on for months - ebay has pretty much curtailed the use of gift cards since the late spring /early summer.   As far as immediate payment goes, as a seller, I'm told you can turn off the requirement for buyers, but buyers can do nothing.

Yet they still sell them.  Typical for eBay.

Re: Using Gift Cards

eBay typically requires immediate payment for Buy It Now (BIN) items. This ensures a quicker and more streamlined transaction process.
If you're experiencing difficulties using your eBay Gift Card for bidding or Best Offers, it could be due to certain restrictions or changes in eBay's policies. Unfortunately, the immediate payment requirement for these types of transactions may limit the use of gift cards.

Re: Using Gift Cards

I've made 16 purchases w ebay gift card (I'm new to ebay) all purchases made w ebay gift card went perfectly....now all of the sudden I can't even bid w/o

Immediate purchase credit debit venmo PayPal. I wish I had known before I went locally to purchase another ebay card (175.00) now I can't use it apparently?

I will try the BIN. if that's the only way I can spend  it. I assumed the gift card was a sure thing immediately paying the seller? ...just frustrating

Re: Using Gift Cards

It is an unsafe practice to buy Ebay gift cards off of a rack in a store. Beware, there are many scammers out there who can drain your card before you can use your card.

Re: Using Gift Cards

Is this website trying to sabotage itself? With all these restrictions it sure seems like it is.

Re: Using Gift Cards

If you aren't  required to enter a debit or credit card before bidding then if you win and want to pay with a gift card, when you're  ready to pay scroll  to the bottom of the checkout page and enter the redemption code in the Add coupons field.
