Sellers fees not adding up?

I think I'm being overcharged on the monthly invoice? It lists the following totals:

Final value fees $25.67
Shipping fees $18.44
Total $44.11

I had two sales this period:

1st item the buyer paid $149.50(item) + $41.65(shipping)

2nd item the buyer paid $52.00(item) + $8.47(shipping)

I thought the way the total fees worked was the final value fee was 10% of the combined items sales price, and the shipping fee was 10% of the shipping cost. Doing the math though, the FVF alone ($25.67) already exceeds 10% of the total item+shipping for all items:

$149.50 + $41.65 + $52.00 + $8.47 = $251.62*10% = 25.16

Is this a mistake on eBay's part, or am I mistaken in how the fees work? Thank you for your help!

Re: Sellers fees not adding up?

The FVF is now 10.2% which calculates out to exactly $25.67.   The fee went up just in the last month or so.

Ah wasn't aware. Hmm, still though, doesn't explain why the total FVF+shipping fee is $44.11 when it should be $25.67

Did you use FedEx or UPS to ship item via eBay? If yes then shipping fe is added to your bill.

If I didn't offer international shipping, do I have to pay the shipping fee?

The seller is not rich but the carrier is very rich.

Yes.  Ebay charges a FVF on shipping whether domestic or international.  You may want to get more familiar with the policy page for Seller Fees.

@billybob8484

149.50 + 41.65 = 191.15 X 10.2% = 19.50

52.00 + 8.47 = 60.47 X 10.2% = 6.17

19.50+6.17 = 25.67

On top of that is your 2.9% PayPal fee and the 30 cent per transaction [per payment] fee.

@mam98031

If the FVF (25.67) is 10.2% of the total of both item+shipping combined sale price, then how is the shipping fee ($18.44) being calculated? That's way more than 2.9%+$0.30

Re: Sellers fees not adding up?

Also the fees are assessed on any taxes the buyers paid, if you are in ebay managed payment.

Plus

 And in managed payments the fees in most categories are

  • 12.55% on total amount of the sale up to $7,500 calculated per item plus 30cents

One of the easiest ways to learn at least the basics about MP so that you can better work within the limitations of the program is to go back to the main Payments page in the forum.  Look to the right.  There are three articles created by the Payments team that are easy to read and contain great information that will absolutely help you along the way.

I encourage you and others trying to learn the ropes to review these postings.  They are really helpful.  And just to make it easier for anyone that wants to review them, here are the links to them.

That final article gives all kinds of links at the bottom that may be of interest too.

If you have ANY questions regarding MP, you are welcomed to ask here.

I think you are confusing two completely different things.

Calculated shipping is NOT a fee imposed by Ebay.  Sellers may choose to post a fixed amount for shipping on a listing or do Free Shipping and roll the cost of shipping into the price of the product or they may use Calculated shipping.

With calculated shipping, the seller enters some specifics like carrier, weight, etc.  and depending on the BUYER's location will show the shipping fee on the listing if that buyer were to purchase.

Calculated shipping is for the actual shipping of an item and has nothing to do with Ebay FVFs.

The Ebay FVFs are based on the shipping amount PAID by the buyer.
