I sold a chanel bag on eBay on 12/6/22. EBay restricted my account and asked for a copy of an ID. I provided front and back of my DL.
Since that time I have chatted with customer service, contacted BBB, emailed CEO of eBay and contacted eBay for business through Facebook with mixed replies.
I was told there was i issue with my registration and just to wait for them to resolve it. They need nothing from me. Just to wait.
I was told that my account is in legal department without any explanation of what that meant.
I was told that I didn’t do anything wrong but I need to refer to user policies.
I have been selling my stuff in eBay since 2011.
I sold expensive things ie a gold Hublo watch and inexpensive things ie lulu lemon pants.
I am writing this to let the eBay community know of eBay’s underhanded practices.

The reps on Fb eBay for business told me to contact payout on the website and directed me to the chat on eBay website.
it’s a joke.
I don’t know if they are having internal financial problems and they figure they can hold
some peoples $$$.
selling on eBay is not my business. So maybe they think I’ll forget that they owe me $ 2,300.00. I dont understand what they are doing. I am told by everyone that eventually I will get my money.
I feel betrayed by this organization.

Makes absolutely no sense why eBay would operate like that....an e Bay seller or customer with an issue may not have a facebook or twitter account...but they certainly have an eBay account. Having a third party call center with staff not directly employed or trained by eBay field calls from the company's flagship eBay site seems backwards in my opinion.

I would hope that there is a legitimate reason for a delay of 2 months to pay a seller for funds due. Sellers that take the time and effort to place items for sale are what makes eBay a viable marketplace. When you finally get someone that can answer some questions, I hope their answer makes sense...otherwise you are left wondering why they would drag their feet.
If eBay delays payouts or holds funds for any reason (new seller, high value item, buyer return, etc), It would be nice if they would pay interest on that money while it sits in eBay's account which could possibly ease their customer's agitation over the delay just a little bit.

They're not earning interest on payouts. If they were then maybe they would pass it on.

I would be shocked if funds parked in an eBay account was not bearing interest. If it isn't....then shame on them for shortchanging their stockholders by ignoring a passive revenue stream.

How do you know they are not earning interest on payout. They are not transparent in anything they are doing.

Read the TIP in this link.
eBay's legal department and their many attorneys would not allow them to say that if it wasn't so.

I did hire an attorney. Will see!
From what i understand, eBay is not doing well financially.
02-24-2023 01:24 PM
But they would allow them to keep money that is not theirs. It looks like eBay organization just does what ever it wants to do.
BTW there is only one person who replies to BBB and for CEO of the company. I had my attorney write a letter-so far crickets. Thieves.

Its my understanding that it is not Ebay holding funds, but Adyen, the payment processor, refusing to release them.

UPDATE:
Funds are still on hold. EBay asked me to verify my bank account and address two weeks ago but refused to lift my restrictions after everything was verified. Telling me that everything I provided checked out and was fine. However my account is still restricted. now they are saying the account restriction May be indefinitely!!!!
ao what was the point of verifying my back account and address. Just in cas there is a security breach the thieves will have al of my information?
I asked what will happen if I close
my account. Aren’t they supposed to release funds after account is closed. No answer!!
i am sure that there are many people out there who have a similar experience with eBay.
I can be found on Facebook pg under eBay complaints.

Ebay doesnt release funds when an account is closed. After a certain amount of time, those funds will go to your states unclaimed property division..sorry to say..can take a couple years I understand.
