I sold a chanel bag on eBay on 12/6/22. EBay restricted my account and asked for a copy of an ID. I provided front and back of my DL.
Since that time I have chatted with customer service, contacted BBB, emailed CEO of eBay and contacted eBay for business through Facebook with mixed replies.
I was told there was i issue with my registration and just to wait for them to resolve it. They need nothing from me. Just to wait.
I was told that my account is in legal department without any explanation of what that meant.
I was told that I didn’t do anything wrong but I need to refer to user policies.
I have been selling my stuff in eBay since 2011.
I sold expensive things ie a gold Hublo watch and inexpensive things ie lulu lemon pants.
I am writing this to let the eBay community know of eBay’s underhanded practices.

It's my belief that when you contacted lawenforcement@ebay you might have thrown a monkey wrench in your payout. Reports to law enforcement on eBay is to report stolen items.
I asked on your other post but you never answered- did you get signature delivery to the authenticator?
Has eBay asked for a receipt for the bag? Do you have one?
Maybe they are waiting 60 days to go by after the buyer received it in case the buyer files a chargeback, especially since there's no indication the buyer is happy with their item. (feedback)
What date did the buyer receive it from the Authenticator?

I can tell that you've sold before but it's been so long ago that you're being treated as a new seller. Beyond that...
- Did the authentication go well and was your buyer satisfied?
- Your references to "issue with my registration" and "my account is in the legal department" don't seem to 'jive' to me. Does eBay want info about you or info about the bag?
Yet they tell you that you didn't do anything wrong and they need nothing from you. I don't get it...

I am in the same situation. Account restricted for almost two months. Not sure I plan to use Ebay anymore.

Buyers need to keep up with policies because they change.
You've been a member since 2005 and other than that $1,800 ring in Dec. you've only sold 1 item over a year ago. How many years ago was it? Were you in managed payments at the time?
Because of the high value of the item and because you're selling on a dormant account (no activity in 6 months), your payment will be held 14-30 days. AND longer if you don't have an accepted checking account and a payment method for seller fees that aren't taken from your payout and eBay has your SSN.
When you sell before you're in managed payments is another reason for the holdup.

The bag passed authentication a long time ago.
the buyer has been enjoying it since 12/9/22
eBay told me they don’t need any other information and or documents from me.
i have no idea what they are doing?
why my account was flagged internally and how they can hold money owed without an explanation.
I had since hired an attorney to deal with them.
I have no trust in this platform.
they have no right to hold someone’s money without court order or any real reason.
it’s called theft.
it’s absolutely baffling how they think they can get away with it.

I don’t ever plan on using them again.
anyone who asks me if they should use eBay. I tell them no. Never use them.
Customer service just lies and gives you false hope.
I wasted hours speaking and chatting with people or bots. Who knows anymore.
its just gross.

lawenfrorcemnt@ebay,com never replied to me or even acknowledged my email.
EBay send it to be authenticated and it was signature delivered. Buyer has been enjoying it for 70 days.
I know you mean well and you believe that there has to be something I did to deserve to have my money held from me. You think eBay is a good and honest platform. They are Not…

14-30 days hold is normal selling an expensive item if you were already in managed payments with a recent history of selling.
Were you already in managed payments? Sometimes if you're already in managed payments but haven't sold for awhile eBay wants to verify you again. Thus the hold may be longer while they verify you.
Sometimes eBay will hold the payout for up to 60 days if your buyer has a history of claims. But you have no idea what the buyer's history is because sellers can't say if they made a claim in the feedback they leave.
Do you have a payment method attached to your eBay account for seller fees that don't come out of your payouts?
I'm only trying to figure out why your payment is still on hold.
After 60 days eBay needs to pay you or return your purse.
Contact them through Facebook eBay for Business and not through Help & Contact. Help & Contact is operated by a third party and sometimes they read from scripts or give you false information or tell you what they think you want to hear to get you off the phone.

Were you all signed up for Managed Payments? (giving bank info etc.)
Have you sold anything and been paid while on Managed Payments?
Many times, when you 'send' a pdf of front/back of DL, it comes out blurry; Did you send it via .pdf after scanning at the "highest resolution' possible?

I've never understood why eBay's preferred customer contact is via facebook (where not everyone has an account) rather than using the help & contact menu on their own website.

The call center on eBay is operated by a third party. The reps on FB or Twitter are actual eBay employees. Who would you want helping you? An employee with some authority that can look into your account or someone that could be giving you answers from a script?

Have you provided a social security number or ITIN? If you did does the names on all documents match? Ebay will not release the money unless you provide a social security number or ITIN because they are required to report any sale above $600.00 in a year to the government.

there is NO reason for them to hold my funds.
