New Payment Processing NOT working well - Unhappy Seller

I don't care for the new system at all.  The payment from my customer should be available immediately as it was before.  With Paypal payments from customers the funds were available to my Paypal account immediately.   It was so simple  (ie: customer pays and dollars are in Paypal acct immediately - I ship and cost of shipping is taken out customer payment in Paypal acct - balance is available for my access to use from Paypal acct or transfer to my bank account within 24 hours).  Now Payment from my customer is tied up with eBay's way of processing for 4-5 days.  Now I have to pay for shipping and send my package before I even have the funds.  So my money is sitting somewhere out there, most likely earning interest for someone else.  If a change is going to be made, it should be for the good.  This change was NOT in the best interest of eBay sellers.

This isn't about 'companies'-- it's about individual sellers, buyers and eBay. That is what built eBay. 'Corporations' are what has hurt eBay. There is no reason for eBay to hold up payouts to sellers and driving the sales base to seek other platforms is a poor business model.

When we go to Walmart, the antique mall or the corner store , and pay with anything other than cash, that retailer has to wait days for that $$ to be in their account.
eBays Managed Payments is the same.

Only PayPal gave the retailer (eBay seller) the funds right away. This gave eBay sellers a false reality.

Exactly.  Finance isn't their forte. It operated best when it was the middle man taking a piece of the action between seller and buyer. Simple and clean.

"You miss the point; they've gone backwards from virtually an instantaneous payment operation to holding-  that is, 'pending' - for,  per their published schedule, up to 4 days at times even if you select 'daily' payouts. That's absurd manaegment  in this era; your grocery store clerk doesn't hold your cash from the til nor your change in their hands for days. "

Let's compare apples to apples.  Grocery Stores are brick & mortar.  Epay is e-commerce.

How do mail order catalogs work?  Yes, that's still a thing until the last Boomer dies in 40 years.  They will process any payment 100% before shipping.  If the payment gets held up they have to wait for the hang up to get cleared.  Ok, maybe that isn't the best comparison.

Research how etsy and other sites handle the sellers' money.  I read here that Amazon does the same thing as mangled payments.

If you start a small B & M store you need to have working capital.  I treated my Basic ebay store the same way in the beginning.  I started ten years ago with $1,000 in my PayPal account to cover supplies and some orders I placed for "research".  I plan to keep buying USPS labels from PayPal so I keep a minimum  $600 in PayPal.

eBay had a piece of Paypal's action, though- and accts were verified.  Individual sellers aren't a "Walmart." The cashier at the grocery store doesn't hold your $ for days from the til so the store doesn't get the $ nor do they hold on to your change for four days.

You miss the point- a cashier at the grocery store doesn't hold your money in their hands for up to four days before putting it in the till any more than they hold change due you for a few days either. The transaction is immediate- which is what e-commerce has strived to accomplish better and better.  The MP system does just the opposite.

heck,eBay made everybody sign up for Paypal in the first place.

Right, because they owned PayPal. Now they don't own PayPal, so they're making you sign up for the new one. Seems logical to me.

Agree with you 10,000%!!!!! It's a horrid system-- almost archaic for 2021.

You realize the Ebay is the LAST of the major selling venues to have managed payments, right?

Amazon has had it since the beginning. Etsy, Poshmark and Mercari all use managed payments.

If anything, Ebay is archaic.

Exactly. There is zero reason to force sellers to have a PayPal account in order to be able to sell. No other major selling venue does.

Signing up to hold your payouts for several days???  They don't own MC, AmEx or Visa either.  Been on eBay 20 years; this is a step backwards.

Unless you get a piece of the action, which they did given their stake in it, and the tradeoff was instant payments to sellers. eBay was at their best when they remained a middle man between sellers and buyers. No more.

Been using eBay 20 years;  whether you realize it or not, this 'managed payment' system IS a step back to the past; it's slower and more cumbersome. And less seller friendly, too.  Holding payments up  w/ 'pending' is absurd for 2021. When you buy groceries, the cashier doesn't stand there for a day or three holding your $. The transaction process was quicker and smoother 'in the past' w/Paypal so this move is a step backwards and incredibly more bureaucratic. eBay isn't very good as a

I purchased gas for the car on Wednesday. They let me leave with the promise (confirmed payment)that they would be paid when my CC was used.

I was just checking my CC billing. Surprise, surprise, the gas station has not been paid yet. That payment is "pending".  The real world is not "instant" like the "fronted" (false security) PP payments unless you are dealing in "cash".

Same thing happens when I go to the grocery store. I leave, and all they have is a promise.

Now you are off in another direction trying to compare a cashier taking your payment as the "middleman".

That electronic terminal at the cashier checkout takes your credit card, and the store does not get their payment at that point.

The transaction is only immediate if you handed over some 'Cash"

Stop comparing apples to oranges. It does not support your argument.

Did I like PP? Sure, but I can deal with MP, even after being "spoiled' by PP with my false immediate payments.
