Managed Payments Still Processing?

I have successfully setup managed payments, have received funds, refunded buyers, withdrawn funds etc. HOWEVER, some transactions take DAYS to process. Even tiny amounts like $4.....

Why is this so slow?
An item sold, the buyer obviously put in all their payment information, what's the hold up? Thanks in advance ebay community.

I am hesitant to ship something that says processing, but hate having to go back and triple check individual orders multiple times to make sure the payment completed. Not to mention I've had to send multiple emails to buyers reassuring them that "I'll ship soon"... It's a waste of time that cannot be avoided.

Re: Managed Payments Still Processing?

And this has nothing to do with MP  ^^^

Paypal fronted the money to the seller before it was even cleared to them, so we all got happy and comfortable with that - now Adyen as a financial banking institution (PP was Not a bank) are bound by banking laws and can not do that, so we wait until funds are in our banks.

I prefer MP to PP

As a buyer: No more ability for scam sellers to operate - no more open an account - sell nothing to some poor unsuspecting saps – get as much money from PP as they can - open another account linking paypal, and off they go again.

MP require a legitimate bank account, registered address, proof of identity and SSN’s, along with other verifying documentation to meet banking laws, so no longer as easy to open a fly by night selling account.

As a seller: No more having to adhere to the restriction of the  $$ amount that can be transferred to my business account in one hit from Paypal - direct into my account cuts out the middle man.

And no more shoddy sellers giving the good sellers a bad name.

When you got your money instantly for 7 years the idea that pleasnt surprise is tough. I am dealing with it but its really hard to understand how Paypal was able to do it. Ebay pays out on mon, tues, wed, thursday. So if you sell something thursday night it could be Tues before they send money then a day before it shows in my bank, The byers gets the product before I get there money that is ridicioulous.

@electronics07sell

Oh I completely agree.  The same thing is happening to all sellers, not just a select number.

Yes they can I sold a laptop for 160 ..buyer contacts me and says it was damaged. I said start a return and when i recieve it he will get full refund. The buyer says I am out of the country and cant return it. Asked for partial refund but wouldnt provided me pics of it or bo so i could turn it in to shipping insurance. SO i refused and he opens a case and states the items isnt as described. Ebay pulls money from my account and puts it on hold. 5 weeks later case is setlled in buyers favor somehow even though i told ebay about the message he sent me.

I lose laptop and the 160   then Ebay charges me $20.00 for "defending me over the case" ..if buyer uses paypal they have all the poiwer and ebay does nothing to mprotect you!!

@electronics07sell

Because you got that $20 charge, your buyer did not open an Ebay claim.  They likely knew they couldn't possibly win it, so they did a Chargeback which is filed directly with their CCC.

Now if I were in your position, I'd appeal the decision.  Contact Ebay and give them all the details.  Make sure you specifically have them review the emails between you and the buyer as it will show that you were willing to take the return but the buyer was unwilling to return the product or even provide pics.  And they should show that the buyer tried to get a partial refund out of you too.

I hope you will consider doing this.  Just make sure Ebay gets ALL the information.

Re: Managed Payments Still Processing?

Yes you are correct they used the CCC company. All communication was done thru ebay between me and buyer. If ebay did nothing why charge me. I still cant believe ebay allowed this to happen to one of there sellers.

I understand.  But the fact is they did, so now it is important to decide where to go from here.  You can certainly let it go if you choose or your can appeal.  If it were me, I'd appeal and I'd make sure they knew all about all those emails.

Yes I would like to know how this is better. Are used to get my money instantly through PayPal and now I have to wait four and five days sometimes. This is ridiculous. It’s not better let me make that clear. Again eBay never considers the rights of the seller.

Ebay owns the site, not the sellers.  Just like any other website the owner of that website sets the rules.  Some we may like and some we don't.  But as for sellers, the only right we have is to choose to sell here or not.

Re: Managed Payments Still Processing?

This new process is horrible, and I swear it costs MORE than using it while still combined with PP.

eBay got SNEAKY with the extra fees:

Did anyone else notice not only are we paying an average of 12.55% for an item selling, but they also take 12.55% from you of sales taxes paid by the buyer that don't even go to you..

Why is eBay allowed to profit off state/federal tax requirements at our additional expense?

Also yes, it takes DAYS sometimes over a week to get paid for a single item even with daily payouts due to "Processing" "Available for Payout tomorrow" ooops! add 1 more day for no reason and not process today "Available for Payout tomorrow" "Payout sent will arrive in 2-5 days.

I hate it, I have started moving to some of the many other specialized selling platforms for virtually everything. Not only do things move quicker due to the HUGE amound of chinese knockoff spam listings but often paid quicker and comparable fees.

eBay will just out of business if Amazon ever does a resellers market/auction listing option.

What?  Once you are in MP, you will no longer use PP as your money processor.  EVERYTHING is handled through MP.  No exeptions.

eBay got SNEAKY with the extra fees:

Actually most likely did, but if you do a little math, you'd realize that now one is being "sneaky".  It is just simple math.

The fees in MP have NOT increased overall fees. The following numbers represent those that do not have a store and the fee rate for most common categories [not all].

Fees BEFORE going into MP
10.20% FVF + 2.9% PP fees = 13.10% plus 30 cent per transaction fee.

In MP the fees are:
10.20% FVF + 2.35% money processing fee paid to MP = 12.55% plus a 30 cent per transaction fee.

Starting August 2nd, PayPal is raising their fees, so they will be as follows:
10.20 Ebay FVF + 3.49 PP Fee = 13.69% plus .49 cent Per Transaction fee

PP is apparently offering different fees to different sellers, likely depending on size. From what I've seen it is between 2.59% and 3.49%.

Why is eBay allowed to profit off state/federal tax requirements at our additional expense?

There aren't any Federal sales tax on anyone in the USA now or ever.  All Sales Tax is at the state level.  And just like PayPal, they charge their fees on the total amount received regardless of what the money was for.

Especially when it is after a Holiday, that can throw things off.  Like this week.  So it isn't for "no reason", the banks aren't open and MP only transfers on Business Days because they use the ACH banking system.

I hate it, I have started moving to some of the many other specialized selling platforms for virtually everything. Not only do things move quicker due to the HUGE amound of chinese knockoff spam listings but often paid quicker and comparable fees.

You are correct.  There are options out there, just make sure you do your homework before posting listings so you know what their payment terms are as well because all the sites similar to size of Ebay have their own money processing programs for years.  Ebay is the last of the larger sites to bring theirs sitewide.

eBay will just out of business if Amazon ever does a resellers market/auction listing option.

Well that is funny.  Have you don't any research on this?  I don't know why this would happen since Amazon has a similar money processing program other than they pay out every two weeks.  And their fees are significantly higher than Ebay's in many categories.  So I'm not so sure about this one as it makes no sense to me.

Besides, Auctions on Ebay only work in certain categories.  Auctions hasn't been a big part of Ebay's business for years.  Which is why they only represent around 20% of the listings.  It is also why sites like Amazon on others are not likely ever to get into auctions.

Everyone pays Federal Taxes in the USA and my statement still stands, fees should be based on actual sold item value not the after tax total. It's not our fault the law making morons passed the new online tax laws.

I never said anything about this week or holidays, they have literally just held my "next day" payout in the middle of a week for an extra day.. for NO reason.

The Managed payments process is quite a bit more bulky and privative compared to the Paypal process that we all used for years.   Unfortunately, eBay decided that they needed to upgrade to the in house payments management like the other big sites and then went about doing it in a really unique method.

The fees seem to be a sticky point for some people.   eBay was up-front in telling everyone what the fee costs are (avg 12.55% plus the processing fee).  For the most part it was a push, but it was a nice little revenue find with the fee collection on the sales tax portion as well.

Payout timing is sporadic as it is dependent on the clearance times of the buyers funds at various points.   Mine have been averaging 2-4 days.

Finding additional venues and migrating items to the one that is best suited to the item is a good exercise.   I cannot fault anyone for making good business decisions.

Finally, the Amazon thing....I doubt that they would entertain a reseller/auction listing on their platform as it not really in their direct customer sale business model.

In a nutshell,  we sellers have to adapt to the whole Managed Payment process with all its quirks and costs and adjust our listings accordingly or make decisions to better manage our own online sales footprint.

There is a big difference between Federal Taxes and Federal Sales tax.  Ebay does NOTHING in regards to charging Federal Taxes to any seller.

You may not like my answers or agree with them, it doesn't make me Pro Ebay.  I simply responded to what you posted.  You may have meant what you posted a bit differently than I interpreted what you wrote, but I only went by what you wrote.

Re: Managed Payments Still Processing?

Its doing it to me now for the first time. Its only for £9 aswell I was expecting the payout today and would've posted but woke up to see it still says processing. Which is unusual.  I was wondering if its because I sold a £300 dress at weekend which I posted special delivery but buyer wasn't in nor has she been and collected it or had it redelivered which is worrying. I hope that's not why they are slowing things now
