I've avoided registering for Management Payments, and I likely will be completely leaving E-bay due to this requirement unless E-bay reverses course on this requirement.
There is no legitimate reason for them to have my date of birth and social security number. They state it's per government regulations, but if that were true I'd of had to of given it to PayPal which I have not.
eBay please revert to allowing us to user PayPal for all processing going forward and stop asking us to expose information you do not need. It is a personal security risk I am not willing to take.

I LOVE your posts!

Without them these enquiries would continue to go nowhere.

Which is just an admission that your posts are meant to go nowhere as you see all of this as a game which is so sad. Often what you are responding to is in regards to sellers trying to figure out how to best survive financially with the changes happening in Ebay and the world at large. Your cavalier attitude about the impact some of the junk you post has on them says a great deal about you and it is very sad that you don't care what you might be doing to others or the harm you may cause.

I want to make sure you understand something: when responsible, thoughtful adult eBay discussion-board members have something to say, they say it.
They don't hide behind bizarre, stylized, attention-seeking, often nonsensical posting forms they think are novel, or hip. or chic, or trendy. They don't post bible verses to insult other members. They don't use straw man fallacies. They don't cite laws or accounting principles they don't understand. They don't post riddles and conundrums. They don't make circular arguments. They don't dodge answers by asking more questions. They don't prod and poke and provoke and bait and insult and incite. They don't post comment after comment after comment ad nauseum, long after anyone continues to notice or care.
They say what they have to say in a straightforward, responsible fashion and defend their positions in a mature, effortless manner, and then move on.
Most of all, they don't stop buying AND selling on a platform, but continue to post on that platform's discussion boards. Instead, they find another hobby.
tl;dr: Don't waste your time and effort.

Your points are well taken. It's my fault for playing into something that wasn't at all constructive or helpful. Thank you for sharing your pearls of wisdom with me. It is appreciated and taken to heart. 😍

Hi everyone,
This thread is getting a bit heated. Please remember that, while it is fine to disagree with others, discussion should always remain courteous and respectful.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Bye Bye eBay. Bye Bye. It's been a nice 25 years.

Yes, you make all that money I was going to make.

Are customer service reps advising members that they can opt out of Managed Payments? Or, more to the point, can members opt out of Managed Payments?
TIA, Brian.

I responded on another thread to you where you made this same statement. For clarity here, we have ALWAYS said there is a choice for EVERY seller to make.
When Ebay emails you and tells you it is time for you to move into MP. That seller has a choice to make. Sign up and continue to sell on Ebay or don't enter MP and leave Ebay as you can no longer sell here.
That is your choice to make. Stay and join or decline and leave. Your choice.

Just updating your tag.
For MP questions the tag should be: payments_team@ebay

Explain the process.

Sounds too good to be true.

So, you think when the customer service rep said a member could opt out of Managed Payments, the rep meant by not selling here anymore? That's hilarious!
I wonder how that conversation really went . . . 😂
