I am a buyer I have bought 300+ items on ebay in the last 3 years but yesterday August 5 at 4:53pm I was put in this stupid test by ebay of the sample buyers what have to have a automatic payment method to make a offer or bid on anything and if I win a bid I am automatically charged this is unethical really my cc card on file for ebay purchases I allways use to pay for my purchases should not be charged this is bul*sh** and wrong
I allways pay on time in less then 2 days
Is there anyway I can opt out of this test group of buyers
And another thing with the automatic payment method I CANNOT combine shipping if I buy more than 1 item from a seller so if I buy more than 1 item from the same seller I pay a da*n boatload extra for shipping
This automatic payment method is the stupidest thing I have ever heard and seen
And ebay never even mentioned this to buyers , or sellers most people don't even know about it this is a scam/shaddy as hel* business practices
This a lawsuit waiting to happen people
I went to ebay chat online and I talked to a ebay representative and she told the only way to get rid of this is to ask the seller I want to buy from to turn it off on there seller account or put me on an exception list from there seller account
She also told me if thay won't then every offer or bid or bid and win a item I will be automatically charged method
Does anybody else have this problem or just me can somebody advise or help me please
And PS: I am only a buyer I have never sold on ebay

Earlier in this forum, someone express if deleting Paypal from eBay would prevent its use, so I tested it.
I just deleted Paypal from my payment method in my profile. I now have zero registered payment methods with eBay.
I immediately made a small 'buy it now' purchase, and had no issues using PayPal to pay for the transaction.
We'll see if that works for bidding action situations, but I can't imagine it wouldn't.
Those settings for the Auto-pay are set PER Selling account ... for example, I have mine turned OFF meaning nobody needs to enter a payment method when they bid on my items. If your test purchase was from a Seller with the settings OFF you would have no issues ...

You have to message Sellers and ask if they can either turn off the Auto-pay or put you on their Exemptions list on their Buyer Management page. It is not a Buyer setting when purchasing, it is a PER Seller account setting. It is a great feature to eliminate certain scams and unpaid items for Sellers. I typically don't have those issues so mine are turned off.

In regards to the Auto Pay on AUCTIONS only, the payment does not go through for 3 days, giving time to purchase more than 1 item from a seller and have them send an invoice. I never let it go the 3 days before I pay as you can pay before that 3 days is up and it cancels the Auto Pay for that order.

This is not correct. The conclusion by hollyd7770 about a 3-day grace period on auctions was either deduced prior to Auto Pay, or the seller(s) he's drawn his experience from had it turned off. Three days ago I placed a bid on a regular auction with auto pay in effect (before I knew better), and my card was charged immediately. I will not make that mistake again. I believe mr_lincoln's evaluation is correct: the only way this policy is going to be eliminated or reduced is by direct complaints to eBay and an effective effort to inform and persuade sellers. Unfortunately, if the past is any indication of the future, that's unlikely. I think it would take a massive, coordinated effort coupled with a significant reduction in overall sales. Does anyone really think that's going to happen? EBay is a tone-deaf monopoly that in the current lingo is "too big to fail," and the only real answer is a competitive venue. I'm not giving up, as I'm one of the little guys dealing in collectables who has no real options. I must report, however, that I've already spent a lot of time writing to sellers I know trying my best to explain the situation, and I've had limited effect. It's complicated, and everyone's sick of the constant rule changes and chaos. It should be eBay's job, because they're the ones who instituted this mess without consultation or warning, but I think they WANT the elimination of combined purchases and for all transactions to be BIN with auto pay.

I have been buying $1k every month since 2016-17. I always buy bulk listings and took advantage of combined shipping discount but now I will have to buy from PWCC or auction houses or Mercari. I got charged shipping 4 times from the same seller for 4 different cards I bought this week.
Very annoying and sad to leave ebay.

I bought 4 items in auction from the same seller, ebay paid for them (kindly on my behalf) separately charging $5 postage on each, I will see if seller refunds me but think the only way to fight this is leaving seller negative feedback for over charging They may then remove the option

This just happened to me, too. I have been purchasing items from a particular seller, and he's combined shipping for multiple auctions with no issues. However, eBay went ahead and auto-payed for a single one of my recently won items, and is "threatening" to do the same with three additional auction wins, too.
The seller offered to correct this and adjust the combined shipping total accordingly when he invoices me for my final payment, which will be within a couple of days. I've purchased from this seller before with no problems (he's excellent), and I've never had a late payment to anybody else I've ever purchased from during the almost 18 years I've been on eBay.
I realize there are some deadbeat buyers on eBay who stiff sellers, but I'm certainly not one of them. Ebay should not be forcing this "test" this way, at least not upon people who have never had any payment issues, such as myself and others here.

"We automatically charged your Mastercard ending in **** for this purchase".
Had multiple credit cards on file with ebay with 100% feedback as a buyer...DELETED ALL CARDS
GOOD BYE EBAY until they get their act together
