You will need to provide that information if you want to be paid for your sale.
eBay is required to comply with laws regarding taxes and cannot do so if you do not provide that information.

If you do not want to provide your bank account information to eBay, you can open a new checking account specifically for eBay and provide that account number instead of your current bank account. But you will still need to provide your SS or tax ID number.

There isn't one. Scroll down to bottom, right side 'contact us' and follow prompts. A rep might call you back and might give you wrong information, for free.
If you REALLY want an answer, spill the beans here and one of many VERY experienced members will help you (after all, this is a Peer to Peer Forum; but you DO Have to return to this thread you started to see responses (which many don't)

I guess you can always wait and get the funds through your state unclaimed property division. Of course they'll probably want your SS# to reclaim your money. They will also release the funds via a check so without a bank account it will cost to cash it I presume.
It will also take alot longer than just giving it to eBay in the first place though.
If it's a security concern I would worry more about my doctor, dentist or any other other various entities that may have antiquated protections for your information that is on file with them.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

If you won't provide the information required to sell and get paid, then I suggest taking down your active listing until/unless you change your mind @herbieguy .

You need to comply with the ebay user policy prior to acting upon the site. If you are declining, then you are required to close every item for sale upon the site.
If you are a US seller, based upon current US Banking & Tax Law, you WILL provide the information or you will never see the money. There is no more "under the table" money paid by ebay now that they are a payment processor. The Government wants it's legally entitled share.

Your checking account routing and account numbers are necessary to receive your payouts. Your social security number is required for income tax purposes and proof of identity.
If you decline to provide ebay with required information, eBay will have no choice but to send your unclaimed funds to your states unclaimed property department where you will be able to claim it in about 6 months and provide the same information.

"holding my funds hostage and want my social security number and bank account information! I will not provide that ! "
Looks like you wont be getting paid then. You didnt bother to refresh yourself with the selling criteria here before you listed that item?

You can always wait for a year or so, Ebay will eventually release your funds to your states unclaimed property division. Of course you will have to supply your ss#.
