Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

This is another example of Ebay refusing to make a payout while they hold our money and collect interest.  I have been a member for 24 years, same bank account and nothing else has changed.  First excuse: need to verify bank account....so they did that (by making deposits and withdrawals) and said that was o.k.  Second excuse: need to verify my social security number which they already had.  Did that and they said verification and they confirmed it was o.k.  Now they won't say what else they are looking for/at.  They keep saying they need 5 days not do a further review.  Every day the 5 days starts over.  In addition to being unethical, this is potentially criminal behavior.  They collected their fees (almost $1000) on day 2 after the buyers payment cleared and have been sitting on my money ever since.  I would warn anyone against making a significant sale on Ebay.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

This is meaninglessly vague.  No details at all.  My selling history, although small, is perfect as is my feedback.  My performance is flawless and there is has has never been a single dispute.  If they want to hold funds, they need to provide specific criteria in advance so the seller can decide if he wants to wait x number of days because they don't meet that criteria.  Talked to them 3 times.  Why can't they provide a specific reason??

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

If this was a scam and was happening to a large swath of people, the FEC would be all over eBay since they are a publicly traded company. Also, since they are now doing managed payments that has put other legal obligations on them. Your item has not even reached its destination. If I was a customer and you came making accusations so quickly, I would ask myself, why is this person wanting their funds before they have completed the transaction by delivering it. eBay has to deal with constant scammers from buyers to sellers and we prefer knowing they are doing their due diligence. It appears you are acting out of desperation, that sends a red flag. Relax, hope your customer agrees with your description when they receive it and they do not file a claim.

What is high priced?  What is an unusual selling pattern?  Why can't they give me a reason for the hold?

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

Maybe this is clearer.Ebay does consider an infrequent seller as a risk.

Holds

We reserve the right to manage the risks associated with providing you the Payment Services, by placing restrictions on your access to your funds when deemed necessary, as described in further detail below.

You agree that we may place holds on your funds or instruct a payment service provider to hold your funds, prior to disbursement. For the avoidance of doubt, if you receive funds to either a stored value account issued to you under eBay’s Balance Terms and Conditions or to a payment account, a hold may also be placed on such funds. If a hold is placed on your funds, the amount and status of the hold will be displayed under the Payments tab in the Seller Hub/My eBay. We will notify you through the eBay Message Center and/or by email and, depending on the reason, may request additional information from you to help resolve the issue. A hold may be placed if we have reason to believe there is an increased risk associated with the provision of our Payment Services or with a certain Managed Payments transaction; for example, if we cannot verify your identity or if your buyer files a dispute. Please see our holds help page for more detail on the hold types and examples. We take into consideration relevant factors when assessing the risks, including selling history, seller performance, returns and cancellations, chargebacks, riskiness of the listing category, transaction value, the ability to make direct debits from your Linked Financial Account, and the filing of eBay Buyer Protection Program claims. We also may cancel or freeze the settlement of your proceeds as necessary to comply with our legal obligations in connection with fraud prevention, risk management, or regulatory compliance. Any hold placed on your funds will be lifted when the issue is resolved.

If I made such a big sale I’d be so glad that high amount of money 💰 💵

would be coming to me soon!

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

Again, if there policy is to wait for a buyer to receive the item verify it's authenticity then I have no problem with that, but those criteria need to be spelled out in advance.  Very simple.  If the reason you claim they are holding my payment is that, why don't they just tell me that when I call?  Again, very simple.  As for desperation...this is a matter of principle.  My beef is that there is no specific policy/criteria to warn a seller that they may not get there money for an indefinite amount of time.  I have been an ebay member for 24 years...never had a single incident or negative or neutral feedback on a sale or purchase....and all of a sudden I am a fraud risk.

They did.

"High priced items or unusual selling patterns may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days "

Someone that sells lower priced items that hasn't sold for awhile and all of a sudden they sell an $8000 card is a little unusual.

Have a great day.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

I am very glad....but who knows what soon is?  They get a $1000 cut immediately.  Serenity now....LOVE that episode...LOL  I am trying and this really doesn't have anything to do with the money at all.....but I don't like being jerked around.  This is a matter of principle for me.  If the reason for the delay is that they want to wait for verification from the buyer, why don't they tell me that when I talk to them?

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

Thanks for the additional verbiage.  BTW, the funds do NOT show on hold as described.  My held funds show as 0....They just won't schedule a payout.  At any rate, why is it that they can't give me the specific reason when I talk to them?

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

It's a trading card, registered with the PSA.  A 2 minute review would show I am (was) the owner of the card.  At any rate, when I talk to them, why can't they specifically tell me why they are holding up the payout.  They didn't site the reasons above.
