Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

This is another example of Ebay refusing to make a payout while they hold our money and collect interest.  I have been a member for 24 years, same bank account and nothing else has changed.  First excuse: need to verify bank account....so they did that (by making deposits and withdrawals) and said that was o.k.  Second excuse: need to verify my social security number which they already had.  Did that and they said verification and they confirmed it was o.k.  Now they won't say what else they are looking for/at.  They keep saying they need 5 days not do a further review.  Every day the 5 days starts over.  In addition to being unethical, this is potentially criminal behavior.  They collected their fees (almost $1000) on day 2 after the buyers payment cleared and have been sitting on my money ever since.  I would warn anyone against making a significant sale on Ebay.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

You haven't sold anything in at least 90 days, perhaps over a year?.......you sold an $8000 item on 4/4..........it's 3 days later?  not sure where they are holding it for multiple 5 day increments.

Ebay usually holds money  on new/returning sellers with no current sales for 21 days.......and for certain they do with a sale of that magnitude.........

@ffahmy1

You haven't sold anything for awhile, so they consider you a new seller.

New sellers will have their funds held.

On that amount, they'll probably hold the funds for 30 days.

Have a great day.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

I am not a new seller and my sell rating is 100% as is my buy.  I don't sell often, but when I do, my rating and comments have been perfect.  My last sale was within a year and they had no issues with sending my funds to the same account then.  The item (sent insured Fedex) can be tracked and is scheduled to be delivered today.  I believe this is an intentional Ebay scam.  By holding our money (not one persons but many people) as long as possible, they can keep that money invested and profit off of the delay.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

53  Feedback as a Seller in 24 years and all received more than a year ago doesn't seem to be  an active seller from here.  Do doubt eBay  is treating you as  brand new sales person - you will need to build an active reputation as an eBay seller and they will open up some of there "newbee" controls.  Didn't see any current open/active listings.-  list more  that  might help.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

I am not interested in selling/listing any more items and there was not a criteria or warning that said that if you hadn't made more then x sales in the last year that your funds would be held.  If I had known that was the case, I would have never made the deal or sent the item.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

I sold something within the last month.  At any rate, if they have such policies, those need to be defined exactly ahead of time.  What will they do during that wait?   I spoke to them 3 times and they couldn't tell me why they were holding the money other than they were "reviewing" it.  What is there to review!?  These are just excuses to hold funds and profit further of of transactions.  One $8000 transaction may not seem like a lot but if this scam is perpetuated across huge numbers of transactions, they stand to gain from these unexplained delays.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

why did you say eBay keeps moving the 5 days for further review when it was sold 4 days ago? What else has eBay told you?

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

What is there to review!

Whether the buyer accepts your description as accurate...........if they pay you immediately and you "run"....and the buyer challenges the bona fides of the card, ebay is stuck for the refund to the buyer.......

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

I have sold something with the last year and if there are rules for being labelled a "new" seller these should be provided in advance.  I got a message on the first day that said they were doing a review and it would take 5 days.  Then I talked to them a couple times to get by bank account (which they had already used 9 months ago) verified, then my ss number.  They did all that and said it was all good.  Then today, I got another message saying they were reviewing and to allow 5 days.  I have talked to them 3 times and they have not once mentioned being a "new" seller....probably because they know this is not a legitimate excuse to hold funds.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

You can find all the holds explained for infrequent sellers in the U/A you agreed to when signing on to sell here.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

Because I received a new message TODAY saying my funds were on hold and to allow 5 days for a review.  Interestingly, when I ask them what are they actually reviewing, they can't provide any explanation.  Why can't they say what they are doing during those 5 days....because this is a scam??

re: we may sometimes need to put a hold on your funds due to your selling history or performance, or to address disputes.

This is meaninglessly vague.  No details at all.  My selling history, although small, is perfect as is my feedback.  My performance is flawless and there is has has never been a single dispute.  If they want to hold funds, they need to provide specific criteria in advance so the seller can decide if he wants to wait x number of days because they don't meet that criteria.

Re: Ebay Refusing to Make Payout

Well.....I asked about that specifically and they claimed that they were NOT waiting on feedback from the buyer.  Again, there is no excuse for not laying out these criteria in detail before a seller chooses to sell an item.  Also, if that is the simple reason for the review, why won't they just tell me that?
