eBay is a major player in the secondhand sale market and is an integral part of moving merchandise for a seller. However, I'm really getting tired of eBay's managed payment policies. Once again a buyer opened a return. Apparently they purchased a gift and the recipient didn't want it. So now after almost the 30 day return window they decide to return.
Here's the problem, managed payments is withholding my funds from future payouts in the amount of this transaction, which is well over $ 2,000. In my opinion this is an unethical policy and I'm a Top Rated Seller for a reason. I deliver exceptional service and I will refund my customer, once I get the item back in its original condition. So the buyer has until February 17th to return this item and 2 business days have passed by and they have yet to return it. So my funds from future sales are on hold until they return the item an I issue a refund.
Does anyone else agree with this, as unethical business practices on behalf of eBay's managed payments?
I sell on Mercari, Offer Up, and Poshmark, and they don't have these policies in place for returns.
I believe in order to be taken seriously we would have to get over 500,000 sellers or more to boycott eBay. That's the only manner we can be heard. Until then, if I decide to boycott along with a few others, nothing will be done, we are replaceable and expendable.

I read what you wrote. You are correct however. I didn't realize you were talking about something other than MP since that is what this thread is about. You said "Definitely boycotting ebay for their garbage customer service..." I thought you had issues with MP that you tried to get worked out with customer service but that didn't work out for you. Sorry if I caused you concern.

I unlisted everything and am heading to another platform.

FreEbay does not care about their sellers period. They are a joke. Plus their fees are off the scale. I have slowly but surely moved my items to different sites. Not only are the fees so much cheaper which makes more profit for me but surprisingly I make more money and get more views. Even buyers are shopping on other sites. Trust me my sales and views are so much better. Adding a listing is more of a breeze on other sites and I don't have to accept a return, all sales a finale. I wish I would of transitioned a long time ago. Be brave make the move you won't regret it. Say Good Bye to Ebay you will be happy when you do it. Ebay will be something of the past one day maybe not now but sellers are dropping like flies. It will be nothing but cheap Chinese **bleep** that nobody wants and eventually china will have to increase their prices to keep up with ebays inflating fees and they to will transition because of the increasing unjustifiable returns/refunds or they will be smart and see other sites brings more profit.

It is now May 23, 2021. So , I guess this means you have accepted managed payments, and didn't leave Ebay ? I've been given May 27 as last day to list, unless I accept managed payments. I am not accepting managed payments for now.

Like I had mentioned on this thread or another. My friend has had no problems on Mercari, unlike the problems he had continually on Ebay. With comics, he had numerous buyers purchasing comics that were in good to excellent condition, then requesting a return for a comic that was in poor condition. Ebay multiple times sided with the fraudulent buyers, and returned the full amount of the purchase, including the shipping cost both ways. In spite of my friend specifying, that the return shipping be paid by the buyer.

They can't manage, managed payments.
I just bought an item, from what turned out to be a scam seller.
When my buyers filed a dispute, that money came out of my account, instantly.
Ebay cancelled the listing I bought from.
They said I couldn't file a dispute for 10 days. The money is set to be withdrawn from my bank account , Monday.
Called Paypal yesterday, got a rep on the phone within 3 minutes.
I described what happened. He said we'll force a dispute through. money is still going to be withdrawn from my bank account tommorow. So, how is it as a seller the money comes out instantly, but as a buyer in this case, the money isn't returned instantly ?

I don't know how. If you don't like Ebay's MP, how in the world would you like Mercari's program better. So share with us. What is it that you find BETTER or more acceptable about their policy?

Apparently you missed my response that my sales are more than double on Mercari as opposed to eBay. So the views and likes are working out just well.
Help me to better understand a couple of things.
You started this thread calling for a boycott of Ebay over MP, yet you did join MP so you could continue to sell on Ebay. What changed your mind?
And why do you like Mercari's payment policies yet object to Ebay's? I simply trying to understand, nothing more.

I'm going by what my friend has said about the site. Mercari looks at the pictures if he has to do a return. On Ebay, the reps looked at the pictures, and told him he had substituted a poor torn comic, instead of sending the good one as pictured. Refunded the buyer.

Well that certainly is a good point. And if you get so many returns that this is an over-riding factor for you and the delay in payment isn't a problem, then it may be a very good choice for you.
I hope it all works out.

Another message from Ebay advised me to click on the link. This is an item I bought Friday.

OP is the one that posted the lag time between getting paid, shipping, and potential problems that a seller can now encounter. I just updated the thread with a purchase I made, that was cancelled. Should be refunded immediately if the seller was a scammer...you would think. Like I wrote before. I've had buyers open a dispute, and boom...the money from the sale is gone. Now as a buyer, buying form a seller that had 122 positive feedbacks, and 100% positive. Tried the link nothing. The other message I got, mentioned contacting Ebay today to find resolution. As many other threads are mentioning. Many, too many to read. You cannot get any issues resolved now. Some are going on two months, without getting fixed.

I don't know why the link doesn't work, but sometimes Ebay does cancel a transaction when they believe there is an issue with the transaction. Sometimes it is a seller issue and sometimes it is a buyer issue. It has been my experience when I get one of these that it comes in well after I have shipped the item. All of these types of transaction I've had went just fine. The payment the buyer submitted had no issues and I never had a claim by the buyer filed.

Not if the seller had shipped the item. It is important to remember that just because Ebay thinks there is an issue doesn't really mean there is a proven issue.
You are assuming the seller was a "scammer".
The issue you are having is not MP related for this issue. the MP customer service is absolutely horrible. That is a fact. But for this issue, you don't need to contact MP customer service, just regular customer service is what you need.
Have you checked the tracking on this purchase?
