I have a Samsung Galaxy S9, Android phone. I was able to use the barcode until yesterday. Now when I try to scan a barcode in the Ebay app, it just sits there and doesn't do anything. Anyone have any suggestions for what might be going on? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still doesn't work. Restarted the phone, and made sure the app is updated. No change. The bar code reader seems to be working for me using the eBay app version 6.69.0.1.

Not every bar code is scannable, though.

Thank you. I am on the same version 6.69.01. I have tried various barcodes. My wife has the app on her phone and the barcode scanner is working for her. This just started a couple days ago. Before that, no issues scanning barcodes. Wonder if it is something odd with how the new app version works on this specific phone??

Did you try uninstalling the eBay app, then restarting your phone, before installing again? The restart in between should ensure a clean install. That may help if the problem was related to an update that did not install cleanly.

Hi @jo3mode! I have a few things for you to check and try and then if you're still unable to get the barcode to work, come back and let me know and we'll go from there:

1. Ensuring the camera permissions are enabled for eBay in Android Settings>Apps>eBay

2. If you have any screen capture software running or are connected to a hardware screen recorder, disable/disconnect that (could interfere with the camera needed for the barcode scan)

3. Sign out of the app, delete it, restart the device, then reinstall and sign back in

---> Camera permission is turned on

2. If you have any screen capture software running or are connected to a hardware screen recorder, disable/disconnect that (could interfere with the camera needed for the barcode scan)

---> No other software or connected hardware

3. Sign out of the app, delete it, restart the device, then reinstall and sign back in

---> tried this twice, and still no change.

I click on the barcode scanner function, it opens up properly and has the green rectangle as normal. However, when I point it at a barcode, it does nothing. No click, no action, nothing. It is almost like it just does not read the barcode at all.

Everything worked fine a few days ago, this just changed over the weekend. I have not had any recent changes to my phone. My camera works as normal. Not sure why this does not work.

I am having the same problem as well. I also have an S9. I tried all the suggestions and no change. It used to work perfect before but like you, around the same time, it just does nothing. I have tried my other apps and google's bar scanner and they all work except ebay's

Hi, the issue is still persisting. I talked to a couple friends who have an S9 and they had the same issue. Did something recently change with the eBay app? Any solution here? Very tough to try to use the app without the barcode scanner function. please let me know.

The same issue with the same timeframe, but on Huawei Honor 9 Lite. Have tried everything mentioned - no luck.

I wonder if we'll ever find a solution.

Hi Velvet, just checking back in. I keep trying to update the app and restart and nothing is working. It is so difficult to use the eBay app without the barcode scanner. Any help would be very much appreciated.
