Updates to Private Messages interface

Terrible design. 

The messages are in a short box with a scroll bar.   Only a small section of a long post is visible.  There's no reason for the short height other than bad design.

You scroll down, then you hit "Expand...." then you scroll some more.    One or the other people!  If you have a scroll bar you don't need the "Expand...." click.  Again, poor design.

With the message picker side by side with the message view it's TOO WIDE.  People are already complaining in other threads about this.  If they zoom out to see both the text is too small, when they zoom in to see the text then the have to scroll the screen left to right.  Again, Again, Again, Poor design.

We rolled back to figure out what was wrong with the implementation. When it works as intended I think it'll be a much better experience. Thanks for bearing with!

I am so disappointed the new format was revived. I hate almost everything about it.

New message box-can't reply to messages-can barely see them-hideous design, sorry. Also the puzzle piece is back and so are the various red messages, post flooding, remove html (isn't any), etc.  Also can't see text when you hit preview and now this is saying fix highlighted whatevers-there aren't any.   Also bell doesn't work and neither does envelope for messages-that won't turn off, the bell won't turn on.  Please fix. Thanks!

Also preview feature isn't working again. When you hit preview you cant see what you typed and this comes up-  "This widget could not be displayed."  Actually that always comes up even when you can see what you are trying to preview jsut thought I'd mentiion it again. Thanks!

@windhaze can you please elaborate on the messages box and not being able to reply? And the difficulty in seeing them? For me to pass along feedback I need a little more detail about what you're seeing.

The HTML and post flooding messages are currently the highest priority at Khoros to diagnose and fix.

I can look into the preview issue you mentioned. It would be helpful for me if you could do a separate post to discuss that one on it's own.

When you say the bell won't turn off and the envelope doesn't work, do you mean they red number doesn't go away or is something else not working with it? To help keep all of the issues you've mentioned organized and easier to review, would you mind giving me these details in a separate post as well?

Sorry for the delay-I just saw your tag. I did try to start a new message to you but I wasn't able to tag you in it so am just replying back here.

My bell and envelope are now working properly, signing in is working okay sometimes-others it takes a few tries but I am eventually allowed to get it. (I have to use the work around method-sign in, get sign in page again and go to left top corner of the page and sign out then go back to sign in page and sooner or later it lets me back in.)

The preview issue is ongoing-when I go to preview anything I get this:

The 2nd one stands out as it is not shaded in grey as the others all are. Sometimes I cannot see what I wrote (like now) other times I can. So sometimes I just hit the Reply button hoping what I wrote posts and yes it always has. This is a long standing glitch btw I posted about it during a Weekly Chat sometime ago.

As for the messaging? I guess that was an intended "facelift"?

Well it is horrible! Everything is scrunched together-I'm on a laptop and find it very difficult to use-I don't know how anyone on a phone is managing it-esp if they have vision probs as I do. I have seen many posts about it not only on link above but scattered elsewhere also. That is one feature noone I know likes or wants-it makes the messaging system much harder to use.  ☹️

So far no red errors, post flooding, html etc but it's early here so I can't comment personally on that tho I have seen other posts about it so apparently that isn't fixed yet either.

Failed to mention I do not have any problems uploading videos-I can always see the previews too however I still get that 'widget thing' only less of them? Very strange I posted a c/p below (sorry can't do a screenshot.) 

In this case the middle one stands out on a white background there is no line with an > and the other 2 widget things are on a shaded grey background as well.

In addition I also forgot to tell you my Profile Page is still messed up-seems the only posts that appear there are ones posted on the Discussion Boards/Weekly Chat? I posted about that issue recently there.

It was at 40 now at 42 after posting here but posts done elsewhere are not counting.

Thanks @windhaze. I'm getting some odd behavior when I use the 'Preview' feature too. I've sent my examples to Khoros to reivew.

I'll send over the feedback 'scrunched' view in messages to see if there are some settings we can change to make it look better or if improvements can be made.

@windhaze what was the timeframe you sent that message and 2 replies in? 1 minute or less, or more than that?

rebecca@ebay  brian@ebay     For the record I HATE the new PM interface.  I have used it enough now to know that there is NO way I will get used to it.

 I need to be able to see more than 3 lines of text at a time when I am typing a reply.  Trying open it on my cellphone is a major issue too.

The message was sent in am, replies were done in afternoon-perhaps 15-20 mins apart? Don't recall exactly sorry.
