"Hide Search Suggestions" is no longer showing, can search suggestions be disabled?

I have very specifc searches that I use, and quite a lot of them too, and so I depend on my browser remembering my form field entries, so if I type in the letter "a" I can see all of my very specific searches that start with that letter, and I can select one to search, and so on.

Does anyone know how to disable this search suggestions?  I have done some research, neither the HOSTS file nor the adBlock rule worked for me.  Ebay is essentially useless for me now, I can't believe they took this option away.

Just a bit more info...after testing some more, it seems like my issue is only happening on ebay.co.uk, ebay.com does still have the Show/Hide search suggestions option.

If you no longer have the option to hide eBay suggestions and you want to be able to see your past searches saved by your browser, try going to the Advanced Search page and using the text entry field located there -- you should be able to see your past search terms there.

Thank you for your reply eburtonlab.  Yes, I have found that workaround too, but it's just sooo many clicks.  If I'm looking for 60 or 70 items at any one time (LP/CD collector!) it really adds to the length of time I have to spend searching.  I wish the UK site would just bring back the "hide search suggestions"- why give users LESS choice?

The Advanced Search page is reachable in one click from any eBay page, and once you are there you can do anything you could have done previously from the standard search page, so at most it is one extra click per search.

I find bookmarking to be useful for searches that I intend to do over an over again. Some folks like to use the Saved Search feature, but that is limited to one hundred searches. Bookmarking provides more direct control over the search, and the bookmarks can be organized in many different ways. I like to put twenty or thirty related bookmarks in a folder on a browser toolbar, so I can open all the searches at once in different tabs with a couple of clicks (right-click on the folder, select "Open All in Tabs).

The "hide eBay suggestions" link has disappeared and reappeared before -- perhaps its current disappearance is temporary as well.
