Ebay is becoming the worst buy and sell platform in the world, fueled by greed, When I placed a item in my cart and said buy now then changed my mind a few min later I was told I could not cancel the order and had to pay. I told them that was strong arm robbery. Its like sitting something on the sales counter and then say I dont want that item and they say you have to buy it now and threaten you. I got banned for life for speaking the truth. Another person is constantly punished by ebay when a shipper messes up the item. They dont care. Everyone should move their items to another platform. These people are legal scammers

Personally, that would be great big eBay forced people to buy. Seller’s paradise!
seriously, though - this one is user error. You purchased an item accidentally. Happens to the best of us!

"It's like sitting something on the sales counter"....
It's like sitting at a table in a restaurant...and "then say I don't want that item"

I've been buying on eBay a little longer than you ... and I don't remember a time when buyers could guarantee getting a cancellation. We could only request it from a seller, who had the final say.
We were always warned about 'binding contracts'. Nothing's changed.
If you requested a cancellation within an hour of purchasing the item ... AND the seller hadn't yet purchased the shipping label ... it was possible your cancellation would have been granted. I suspect the seller either had purchased the label already ... OR had the order sent to a drop shipper automatically so was no longer in control of shipping.
eBay has to balance its policies to try to be fair to buyers and sellers ... both of whom are its 'clients'. eBay's Return/refund policy is tilted way over to the side of the buyer. The seller has been given an edge with the Cancellation policy. I'm only a buyer, and I'm okay with that.
I'm really sorry this happened. I'm mostly sorry that you 'changed your mind', since that is what started the problem. 🙁
ETA: Just noticed that you complained about a similar issue in 2018 ... so you were aware of eBay's policies:

You been buying longer then me? How do you know that, do you know how old I am, do you have access to confidential records. So what you want to defend them that is why is a forum. I guess your going to say its the sellers responsibility to make sure a package gets to the person safely like ebay says.

Ebay is not fair to sellers, they are a little confused that there would be nothing to sell and make money on if it was not for the sellers. I know first hand they will lower your status if the shipper is late like the USPS is and say its your responsibility. A 5th grader know you cant control a shipper. Then there are scammers who have gotten my merchandise for free. They just simply say was not as described they take my money they paid then say if I want the item back to send them a shipping label and in one case I did and never got the item back and ebay just says oh well. Then there is those who get damaged items that the shipper caused then give neg feed back to seller who had no control and ebay just says oh well. And if your a seller you should know about extras fees here and there every other month its seems Am glad you have had good luck and best wishes to you.

You've been a member since Aug. 27, 2007, on this account.
Anyone can see that of your feedback page.

Our feedback profiles show the date we joined eBay. I have no idea how old you are ... nor does it matter.
I volunteer on the Boards to help fellow members, which includes explaining eBay policies when necessary. You, I see, want to fight with someone. That ain't gonna be me ... so have a good one! 🙂

If you decided to cancel as quickly as you said, why didn't you use the big blue cancel button that is available within an hour of ordering.
