Hello,
Yesterday I got an Ebay email saying Fedex delivered my package. Nowhere on my porch or in my mailbox, and I live in a rural area with no porch pirates. I put in the tracking number and it shows a picture of a package on SOMEONE ELSE'S doorstep! I have no idea where it went because Fedex asks for my address and when I enter it, it says it doesn't correspond to the order (!?), and once that happens the automated system ends.
Now today I got an Ebay email saying USPS delivered my package. I'm home all day, it's not on my porch or mailbox. I put in the tracking number and it shows it was delivered on a doorstep in SYRACUSE, NY and I live in VIRGINIA!!
Is there something going on where my address is being hacked and items delivered elsewhere?! The Ebay emails show my correct mailing address.

USPS could be an error. The 'fedex' could be a scamming seller.
Open 'returns for refunds' using 'not received'...when the case closes against you (it will) 'appeal it' and then you will have to get proof of delivery information from both Fedex and USPS (usps should be obvious it is NOT your zip code)

I would call the Fedex local office # (not a 1-800 #) and they can look up the GPS coordinates of where it was delivered and then they should be able to overlay that on a map and tell you the address it was delivered to (I know USPS can do that). On the USPS one, the seller may have just cut and pasted the wrong tracking # into your order. I would write the seller and tell them what's going on.

For USPS...visit your post office with tracking number and talk to a clerk to find out what happened to package.
For FedEx...they always ring my doorbell and never just leave a package .
I guess I am lucky where I live.
I am within walking distance of a FedEx and the post office...so the best thing is to actually visit a FedEx store as well with tracking number and ask clerk what happened.

I went to the post office, they gave me the address where it was sent to in Syracuse, NY (I'm in Virginia)...
Local Fedex place is a drop-off, I'll have to drive to the nearest city. Fedex tracking shows it was delivered to a different city in Virginia. (Fedex does knock, I'm home all day usually working right by the front window and they pull right up to the door practically so I always see them).
Both sellers have feedback ratings over 99%....

Sometimes accounts get 'taken over' by bad guys...so that's not always something to rely on- how many 'positives' the 'last month' is more info... as well as someone with a (10) positives would have 100% so that is also meaningless (percentage). It is more about the size of the number; then the past month.

@jet224
At this point, since the delivery confirmation does not show it was delivered to your Zipcode, you will likely be fine in filling an "item not received" claim on both of these. If it looks like eBay is throwing you under the bus for any reason come back here for advice on what you need to do before you proceed. IF the seller should contact you and say "there was a mistake and they will reship" don't go for it. Don't not fall for anything that looks like an excuse to stall you, and do not close the case until you are refunded. There is no such thing as YOU having to close the case so the seller can refund you. Remember to return to the case and escalate it after three days (ask eBay to step in and help).
Do let us know how this turns out.

It sounds like you have been the victim of two fake tracking scams. The seller's send something, an envelope or small box with tracking to a different address, and uses the Delivered scan to win an Item Not Received (INR) dispute. eBay's automated INR system is not allowed access to anything but the scan information, due to shipping company's privacy policies.
When you file a dispute it will be closed in favor of the seller. In the message you receive telling you that, there should be an appeal button. You have 30 days from losing the dispute to appeal, but in order to win you have to do some leg work. The info below is what you have do do when this happens with any shipping agency.
You will have to go to your P.O. and a FedEx store. You need to bring a copy of your order details page which shows your address and the tracking number with you. If you bought using a phone or tablet, you can bring that to show the clerk the order details.
You want to ask the clerk to check the label address against yours, and also to check the Package type/size weight info to see if was is appropriate for what you should have received. If the info does not match up, you ask the clerk to write a note on Company stationary saying in general that the shipping label's address was not yours, and if applicable that the package type/size/weight was not right for what you should have received. Do not ask for specific address or package info, they cannot give it out. Have the clerk print their name then sign and date the note.
Once you have the note, you can appeal the dispute ruling, or contact ebay through their Facebook or Instagram social media pages. (links below) You can write out what happened and what you found out, and add a CLEAR photo or a scan of the note to an Appeal or message.
If you go the social media route which is recommended, but not always necessary, the reps know about the fake tracking scams you will need to have the seller's username and the ebay item number(s). At the end of your message give them your real and ebay username.

In the future I strongly suggest that you check the feedback profile pages of each seller you intend to buy from, before bidding on or buying their items. On the profile page if the seller has received neutral or negative feedback, click on the numbers of them to read only those comments. Some people who have been scammed but did not file a dispute may have left feedback saying they never received their items. Never go by a feedback percentage alone.
In looking at your profile I see one seller you recently bought from has a 99.6% rating but has received over 200 negatives and about double that number of neutrals, in the last 12 months Another has a 99% rating but has 84 negatives.

When you file a dispute it will be closed in favor of the seller.
@mudshark61369
In this scenario, one of the OP's parcels shows delivery to another state. The second package shows delivery to a different Zipcode and city in the buyer's state.
I don't see why @jet224 would not prevail in both cases for INR, and not have to go through the usual routine for the Fake Tracing Scam problem. If the parcels were delivered to the buyer's Zipcode at the local gas station or CVS etc. then I can see going to "collect" the usual evidence and doing all that work. In this instance it seems premature.

That's correct, when eBay is asked to step in on an INR and the zip codes don't match.
This was just reiterated tonight by a Social Media Specialist (job title, when you look up their unique first name) at eBay. Our constant bad advice is neither correct, useful, nor relevant.

The Fedex delivery that went to a different city in my state - the seller responded vaguely twice along the lines of "we're checking, don't worry, you'll get it"... I went ahead and filed "item not received, want refund"... THIS SELLER HAS A NEGATIVE FEEDBACK THIS MONTH SAYING THE SAME THING, THAT THEIR PACKAGE WAS DELIVERED ELSEWHERE
The USPS delivery that went to Syracuse - the seller apologized profusely and says they're sending a replacement and gave me a new tracking number. We'll see...

Escalate BOTH cases when you can, if the item from the ''Syracuse'' situation arrives later, you can repay the seller then.
I have been imported from Australia and this is my posting ID

UPDATE: the USPS delivery that was sent to Syracuse was not a scammer. They apologized and gave me a new tracking number and the item arrived today. The Fedex delivery still smells strongly of scam; waiting for the ruling from Ebay so I can appeal if necessary...

Who gave you the update? USPS or the seller.
