I purchased a sterling necklace on April 23,
2021. After wearing it off and on for about 10 months, I realized it was sterling plated. I emailed the seller with a photo showing the plating was worn off in places, and got no response. I have now contacted Customer Service nine times, a supervisor told me that even though it was past 30 days, since the item is obviously counterfeit, that they would still file a complaint and take care of the situation. I have heard nothing! Each time I call they say they are filing a report, and emailing the supervisor. Still Nothing! Come on, Ebay, do the right thing! I have proven that the item is counterfeit, what else is there?!

Well, just so everyone that felt the need to comment as to my loss. I received a $103 courtesy refund, from Ebay.... it pays to fight for what is right! So, live and LEARN!

You had the item for over a year, you aren’t going to get any type of support. In this case it’s “caveat emptor”. It’s happened to me several times buying gold and silver as well as angelskin necklaces. I own up to it and move on. As you should.

It was less than a year from purchase, that I contacted Ebay. I was told by the supervisor that since the item was counterfeit that they would still take care of the situation. I do not feel that I should have to take the loss, as the seller did wrong, not me.

And never believe what a csr tells you, they will only tell you what you want to hear, to get you off the phone and on to the next call.

I am to the point of agreeing with you. I am greatly disappointed in Ebay for this. I had no idea they supported the shifting of buyers. NEVER AGAIN!

You had 30 days on eBay and 6 months on PayPal...

Supervisor said that since the item was not sterling, although sold as sterling, that they would pursue the complaint... I am surprised they would lie and say they would take care of it. I am well aware of the thirty day policy, and will no longer trust sellers to tell the truth, and ebay to do the right thing.

Some items are best purchased at a brick & mortar establishment. The CS, while aware of the purchase date was still trying to you move you along. The seller may have not known that the item was counterfeit, they could have also been a victim as well. What does the feedback says, are they still active? Regardless, they certainly are not forced to answer your questions, since the 30 day eBay MBG has passed, as well as the 180 day window for credit card, PayPal.

So much for seller or ebay integrity. It is the responsibility of the seller to be legit.

It's been a year since you purchased this.........

Just curious
Did you check out the seller's feedback file?
Were there any complaints that you noticed?
There are many reputable sellers of high-end jewelry but also sellers who sell junk
Sorry this happened to you

Ebay will only help if you open a case within 30 days of receiving the item.
After a year, there's nothing you can do.

It was less than a year when I contacted the seller and ebay....counterfeit is against eBay policy.

At the time, the seller had excellent feedback. Thank you for the compassion, too. MUCH APPRECIATED!

The item is counterfeit, which is against eBay policy, at all times.
