Well if you have checked Ebay, people are still listing wipes at astronomical prices. I realize it takes awhile to get rid of the posts, but some are listed as of 3-16-2020. What happened to banning them? Is it because Ebay profits as well if they sell?

Can I buy a restricted item and then file price gouging complaint to get my money back?

Clearly you haven't been following eBay's announcements about price gouging. eBay book down every single listing I reported. I hope they ban these sellers from the site.

Exactly how do you define market value? Anyone who thinks this activity is OK doesn't understand what price gouging is and that it is illegal. As I stated eBay took down every single listing I reported.

Once you pay, you will have the seller's contact information. In paypal you will have the transaction. Just search in your state "(your state) attorney general consumer protection price gouging" and you will see the online form. example Illinois - https://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/filecomplaint.html Ebay is being being overrun by opportunists creating more problems for people who really need these items. They are relying on us as volunteers to report these listings.
What you can do against the seller is provide their information in the attorney general form, they will ask their address contact info, price you paid and any supporting documents. You will then have a case with your state where the attorney general can then go after the seller for breaking in most states laws against this.
Try calling ebay as well and tell them if you did buy something that you just realized you paid for an item that is protected under price gouging during a state of emergency and what your rights are? They will probably give you some guidance as they want no part of what's coming to them as the states start investigating ebay's efforts to stop this abuse they are facilitating. If you make the call let us know what you find out.

I don't know but the Prices are insane $25-30 a bottle for alcohol 70% . we should not profit from this horrible health virus issue the world is facing .

That was great information. Why doesn't everyone take the burden off of Ebay... copy and paste 'Lasernadprinterkits' message, send it to the price gouging seller, tell them politely to take the listing down themselves; if they don't you are going to buy it, and forward their information to the appropriate authorities.

traceydon has sanitizers up as a disinfectent. 100 ct wipes up for 20$. I am sorry but if people are unable to buy at stores because people hoarded and turn around and sell it at outrageous prices... thats the definition of price gouging and ebay needs to stop it. Going to take things away from babies and make a dollar on it? For real?

It's not just the business of people who want to pay that price. It is 100% the business of people who would like to purchase this item at a normal price as is their right to do so but can't find any on store shelves which makes it completely unethical, unfair and frankly illegal for the seller to be selling it for such a phenomenal price. If they're not stopped, the items and their benefits are being stolen from the fight against this virus. If you were at war and stood the chance of someone coming to your door, armed and ready to kill you or a loved one, wouldn't you be pretty **bleep** if the cost of a weapon that was readily available 2 weeks ago was now being sold at astronomical prices by people who just happened to get their greedy hands on them before you did? I think you would! So yeah, I agree with stopping the price gouging and I think maybe you should think about it a little bit too. If not for yourself, then maybe for someone you love because we are all in this together. This fight is not about just protecting ourselves, it's about stopping the spread so we can all protect each other.

We need as many filed complaints as possible with the attorney general's office. Here is California, I suggest also filing with this information in your state. I would expect this will be a high priority to be looked at especially with more people filing reports.
File a complaint in California. Ebay's HQ will have to respond to this

When filing with the state of California, here is the details you need for Ebay

Well, I for one, am outraged about these selfish, greedy people with their sudden, super high prices on isopropyl alcohol. I can't afford ANY of them, nor can I find any at the stores at the prices I CAN afford. You say it, "Has to be a declared state of emergency before price gouging becomes illegal." Well, I'd say that a deadly virus is considered a state of emergency!

What about the elderly person who goes to buy those items but someone just scooped all of them up to sell at 10 times the price. That elderly person cant afford to buy it... they live on a fixed income. Who is looking out for them... we need to. Think before you buy... someday soon it could be you.

That's kind of like saying if people want to buy heroin that's their choice. Like heroin, Price Gouging is illegal. ILLEGAL.
Price gouging is illegal, and the Office of the Attorney General has authority to prosecute any business that engages in price gouging after a disaster has been declared by the governor or president.

I keep seeing people saying if someone wants to pay 79 dollars for a roll of toilet paper that's their choice. No. No it's not. Price Gouging is illegal.
