Won auction with free shipping. Seller claims it was mistake

WON AUCTION WITH FREE SHIPPING. SELLER SAID IT WAS A MISTAKE. Wants to cancel order or add ridiculous shipping. Is he obligated to sell it as listed?

Yes he is, but no one can force him to.

Is it a big heavy item located far from where you live?  Was it a new inexperienced seller?  They don't often understand how shipping works.

Are you comfortable taking advantage of the situation?

Unfortunately they can cancel and relist but you are entitled to leave them negative feedback for having done so. It will serve as a warning to others that this seller doesn't follow through on their sales. Just be careful on what you write or your comments will also be deleted. I would suggest something like your first line-- Seller listed item with free shipping but tried to charge me shipping afterwards.

Don't use all caps, don't threaten, don't say buyer beware. Just keep it simple and one sentence and it will stay. Best of luck to you....

Sometimes out errors cost us money. Buyer is not taking advantage of anything. They made a purchase and expect it to be fulfilled. It is the responsibility of the seller, regardless of their inexperience, to complete the order. Passing guilt onto the buyer is not the answer....

If it were an item that cost $10 and could ship for $5, then the seller should eat it.   If it were a large heavy item that sold for $10 but is going to cost $100 to ship, then that is taking advantage of the seller.

It is a known glitch depending on what you were using to buy (phone, tablet, etc.) that the shipping charge does not show up.  It is not intentional on the seller's part - just an ebay glitch 😞

There are youtube videos from noted resellers that have had this problem. Seems to be only when listing using mobile.

There were quite a few reports a couple of weeks ago about auctions being changed to free shipping as soon as they were listed. I'm not sure if that is still happening.
