How do I get a manager, or above, to contact me regarding the order from hell? On Feb 24th, I won an auction for an ereader and paid via Amex. On March 5th the USPS said the package was delivered but what showed up in my mailbox was the label. No box, just the label with a note from the USPS that said the item was damaged and without contents. The item being the box, which wasn't delivered. So, I started this painful journey of trying to get a refund via the eBay guarantee. I provided a photo of the label, which clearly shows no box was delivered, and the note from the USPS, four times to eBay. I also have a letter from the USPS that apologizing for the issue. (I may get $50 from the USPS but I paid $170 for the item.) On eBay's website, the tracking information clearly shows the package was "damaged" and “USPS in possession of item". I submitted a claim. Denied. I appeal the decission. Denied. I've talked to eBay's customer service at least a dozen times. They keep insisting that I received the item.
So, the seller, who is just as frustrated as I am, agreed to refund the money. He suggested that, if eBay says it was delivered and the USPS said it was damaged, request a refund from me indicating it was damaged. I try. Small problem The website won't let me no matter which option I select. Once again, I call eBay's customer service. This is where this issue goes from painful to unbelievable. They tell me they can't do anything since I have a case open with PayPal. Thinking that I may have got it wrong, and I did run it through my PayPal account, I check. Nope, no activity since December. As I stated above, it went through my Amex. Another phone call to eBay's customer service. Again, they asked me to submit all the paperwork, which I did (I’m getting good at doing this.) The agent told me I would receive a refund within 72 hours. I did not. Another phone call to eBay's customer service (I should drop the service/support because all they do is spread the blame or give me some B$ reply to get me off the phone). Again, they ask me to submit the documentation that proves it wasn't delivered. I do. The response; denied. They say that it shows that it was delivered. No one ever mentions the documented "arrived damaged" and "in the USPS possession" lines. So the seller, who sees all of the proof and wants to give me my money back, and I go another route. Since eBay and USPS say it was delivered (damaged, but delivered), go into the order and ask for a refund. I do that but... only problem is, the website doesn't allow me that option. Another call to eBay's cust. support. This is where it gets comical. I explain everything to the agent and ask why I can't select the return option. He tells me, "you told us you never received the item so why could return it?" Stunned, I asked; so you agree that I never received it. If that's the case then please issue me a refund via eBay's guarantee. His reply? Can't do that, it says here that it was delivered.... Okay, so now you’re telling me it was delivered. Correct? Yes. Since it was delivered the only other resolution is returning a damage item. His reply? Nope. you said it was never delivered. After ten minutes of this Abbott and Castello routine I caved and ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. He tells me someone will be in touch within 72 hours. Sound familiar? I do not expect that anyone will call.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Sorry for being long-winded and venting above (it was therapeutic, frustrating, but therapeutic) My question is; how can I get a hold of someone with common sense? I do not blame the agents. They’re just reading from what the script tells them to do. I just want to talk to someone who can see the insanity of this and resolve it.

eBay fees are higher than 10% in some categories, the fact that they wont show you what you are paying is obvious. ..listing fees, and others etc. BUT the biggest "fees" that I pay everyday come from the scammers. ebay auto grabs my money, yet when things happen to sellers like someone leaves obviously bogus feedback or misues returns ebay takes their time removing or fixing it for you. Or they wont remove it, babbling about seller matrics instead. "Don't worry auctionairellc, this won't affect your seller metrics" LMAO I am like, I conducted a poll of people walking past by my white trash trailer, "hey ebay buyer, which do you look at a sellers feedback score or their seller metrics." LOL Give me a break.
..... about ebay reps, I think they are pretty good, certainly better than ebay.. they don't have much power or rank, but they fix a lot of stuff for me every week. BUT they are not publicly traded, and they don't make 387 percent more than their CEO does. Go ahead and not use them, simply send in a request in writing and see what happens, its generally worse. I get the impression from talking (every day) to them that they are not lowlife thieves, decent

Technically speaking as far as eBay is concerned, item was delivered. Case closed, period. Have you gone to your USPS to seek compensation? What do they say? As far as USPS goes, they will grant refund to the shipper, provided insurance was purchased. If no insurance, then really there is no compensation due.
The one at fault is USPS. The shipper could come up and offer a refund, but why should he? Assumingly he packaged and shipped the goods in good faith, why should he take the hit for the USPS fault. In a perfect world, maybe seller/buyer could split the damage, but again, should this be the proper way. As buyer, you had the option to ask and request insurance, but choose not to do it.

ebay support reps, (dublin , columbia, phllippines, etc) never promise me anything. I have to call them all the time, they type it up, ask some questions, and "send it up the chain".
BUT they do work for ebay, so they are screwed and come off as being part of the problem, they have to overlook things like knowing a buyer is a thief, but not being able to tell the seller, (and a whole lot of other examples)
the biggest problems i find on ebay are the scammers (buyers), then ebay for allowing them to continue, then the lame sellers, finally the ebay support people. But what are they supposed to do, quit ebay and go get a job at Mcdonalds?

When call center employees are actually good at their jobs this increases the demand of their quotas and makes it more likely they will be fired, that way eBay can re-hire them at another call center and get a senior level support representative at a starting wage.
The company is evil all the way around.
YEP! You get third world customer service, from third world customer service people representatives:

I don't much about ALL of the countries where ebay support is located like Columbia for instance, but Ireland and the Philippines are not sweat shop labor countries, there are lots of poor, but the people that work for ebay there are very educated and smart. But let's not forget that they work at eBay, home of the "auto hold" , but won't auto remove feedback that is obviously corrupt.
Come to think of it they is a two tier (caste system) like in this "**bleep** hole" country on the other side of the Atlantic called the USA. Many have none or **bleep**ty healthcare, and everyone is getting gang banged on prescription drugs prices.

Why would I get insurance if there's an eBay guarantee? I read the fine print and it covers items not delivered or damaged. Regardless of eBay's stance (it was delivered or it was damaged) they won't honor their guarantee.

Nope... the website won't let me try that option.

I truly believe, and hope, going to the credit card company will work. Amex customer service hasn't slide as bad as eBay's customer service.

That has got to be one of the most dishonest personal attacks I have ever seen in these forums. Do NOT put words in my mouth. I didn't mention Ireland (which gets a tiny fraction of the overall calls). I didn't say people in the Philippines were uneducated or not smart. I said the EXACT opposite. I said they ACTUALLY DO HAVE REASON and that the context makes it appear otherwise. Some of these people speak four languages or more and can write code in Python, Java, etc. Can you?
If you bothered to educate yourself, you would know the Philippines IS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY. You can LOOK THIS up. Their starting salaries are about ₱ 12,000 ($250 a month). Do you think you could live on that? How hard would you try to catch scammers if you lived on Ramen noodles in a basement and spent your days talking to people in the USA that considered you to be no smarter than a trained monkey?
How you could distort my empathy for people who are being exploited by a corporation into condescension against them is INCREDIBLE.

Unfortunately, the fact that these people aren't given a lot of incentive to do a fantastic job isn't their fault. Some of them still do a great job based on their personal morals alone.
Just because they happen to be poor doesn't mean they are dumb. Just last week I talked to a representative in the Philippines who spoke English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, multiple Filipino dialects, and French. She could also debug code. I would not fair well in a chess match with this woman. With any luck she's supplementing her income by tutoring people in the USA in math.
She was living on less money than a fast food worker in the US. Once she gets really good, they will probably fire her and then re-hire her at another call center for starting wage. That is just the way these corporations operate. They would make machine lubricant out of babies if they could get away with it. This is not a reflection of the competence of people living in Columbia, India, or the Philippines.

you shouldn't have to buy insurance, it is without a doubt ebay's responsibility to clean up eBay.. And what a mess ebay is. ebay knowingly lets their buyers steal from me on a daily basis. And If a seller says in their listing that they dont pay for returns, that doesnt matter at all, they will pay for shipping.. and so when I hear you talking about insurance, LOL, from ebay? That's funny, good luck with that, they wont pay off thats for sure..
My catagory is edible mostly candy, I get ripped off EVERY SINGLE WEEK AT LEAST ONCE BY EBAY, USUALLY ABOUT FIVE TIMES A WEEK. And since there are so many buyers literally lying their butts off to me and filling new cases, I can never close my account because there are open cases
ebay will wipe out your wallet and not leave you cent.
