Beside your item on this page, click Return this item (or More actions > Return this item) @franklingpina to start a return request using the reason Missing parts or pieces.

After 3 business days, come back and click Ask eBay to step in to either get a refund, or a return label to get a refund after the return is returned.

Re: Empty Box Full Of papers

I think "not as described" would be more appropriate when requesting a return .

A box of paper is in no way a pair of sneakers.

This starts the process of you returning the empty box (at the seller's expense) and ultimately forcing the seller to refund your money.

It is important to follow the return/dispute process to completion - do not let the seller talk you into abandoning it.

eBay is currently giving both buyers and sellers longer timeframes for the steps in the return process. I just completed a return/refund, so I'm aware of this first-hand.

@franklingpina

Instead of a certain number of days advised by other posters, just comply with the dates given to you by eBay during the return process. Do not miss any deadlines you're given.

Also, along with @luckythewinner's advice, do not let the seller talk you into a replacement. If they didn't send you the correct item the first time around, who knows what they'd send you the second time. Probably nothing, but . . .

Go for the refund, just to be safe.

Re: Empty Box Full Of papers

Start the return. The seller will be required to send you a return label.  When tracking shows you returned what you received they must refund. If the seller doesn't provide a return label ask eBay for help. If you return it and don't receive a refund in a couple of days ask eBay for help.  You have to do this within 10 days of  the date that shows the seller received it back or else eBay will conclude you were refunded and the case will close.

Re: Empty Box Full Of papers

In cases of mail fraud which this is definitely a case of. Take lots of picture of the box and the content. Get a weight of the package from usps. Because clearly a box filled with paper will be a different weight then one with a phone inside. A lot of the time a buyer or seller can prove their case just by using weight and pictures. I would start a return on ebay and also start a insurance claim through usps because i'm sure it was delivered with priority mail so it comes with 100$ worth of insurance. As long as your being 100% honest here it will open a insurance investigation for items stolen out of the package or not sent. After 7 days usps will send you a letter requesting the package at your local post office. They will use the pictures you took , weight, credibility of the seller and any past claims for related circumstances to make a decision. But the best part for you is if he is truly a scammer and they prove he did it he will be prosecuted for felony mail fraud by the insurance company. It then isn't your problem to prove he did it. Its his problem to prove in court he didn't. I'm not saying you are but in the case your not being truthful here the facts will show it and you will be the one defending yourself in court. If the seller is smart and being honest he has nothing to worry about. I personally record my packaging table with high definition video footage just for cases like these. So if a customer claims he didn't receive a item or usps claims a item was sent broken and denies responsibility for breaking a item I have undisputable video of the item being packaged and labeled for pickup by usps. If a seller is smart they will spend the couple hundred dollars for the camera system and use it to protect themselves and there business from false claims.

Re: Empty Box Full Of papers

If you are referring to the seller who left you "Too worried about the tracking number.  Annoying.", you can contact eBay and get that removed.  Sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback or positive feedback with negative wording.

Re: Empty Box Full Of papers

Have you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

All this buyer needs to do, as recommended by several others, is go to eBay's Resolution Center, at the bottom of any eBay page, and open an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE there.

96 hours after opening that case, he returns to the case and asks eBay to step in.  The seller will be required to either send him a prepaid return label or to reimburse him in advance for the cost of return shipping.  When the seller receives the item back, the buyer will be refunded.

I know you're trying to help here, but your solution appears to be more complicated that my solution.

And, incidentally, maybe you don't know this, but all the video in the world will not help you a a seller if a buyer opens an item not received case or item not as described case. Sorry.

Re: Empty Box Full Of papers

Years ago,  I thought everyone was just so Pleasant, and purchased a computer, for over 500 $ and got a box of wet newspaper and then bricks inside, I was in total shock!!!!! We took pictures with our camera immediately, and contacted Trust and Safety, and USPS, since I paid extra for Insurance, just in case.  I finally got my money back, after shipping the item back with TRACKING, and plenty of help from a great Ebay Rep, now, I don't purchase unless there is substantial feedback, a power seller, top rated, and no negatives. I also don't buy expensive items on ebay. I still remember the feeling of being scammed, and the person was in our community group.

Done, buying expensive items without the company having a brick and mortar store.  So sorry for anyone has gone through this, fight until you get every penny back, I was so Mad, it showed me the other side of people, I hope everyone learns from my dumb lesson.

I've had just as much trouble with experienced sellers recently.

I've started to limit my eBay purchases to under about the $20 range, and I'm calling a halt to buying "used" items (for the things I'm interested in). I still prefer the small seller, myself, but no more used and nothing over about $20. Just been disappointed too many times lately.
