Ebay 'we had to remove this listing" 2 items I purchased, received neither. Magic 8-ball no help.

I purchased two items from the same seller. As always, I paid when I purchased. I logged in a few days later and saw notifications for both items saying the listings were removed but that if I had already paid, I should receive the items. I got email notification that the items had shipped, but the tracking shows only 'tracking number provided', nothing about actual items being shipped. Checking seller's history for the last 6 months shows MULTIPLE 'item not received', 'seller not responding', etc...

Both items were paid for by paypal, no refunds issued even though they weren't shipped. Why would ebay pull 2 listings after a purchase? What tipped them off that the items weren't legitimate? Does the seller receive notification when listings are pulled, and could he be using that as an excuse to pretend to not notice he was already paid? I could ask my magic 8 ball but lately it keeps saying 'signs hazy, ask again later'.

It means that eBay finally got the memo that this guy was a fraudster. When that happens, they pull down all the listings that seller has, even the completed ones.

In in any event, you will have to wait until the estimated delivery date to file a claim for non receipt. That’s another set of hoops to jump through on a pulled listing so come back for instructions when and if you don’t receive it.

When eBay removes a listing or a seller, even if shipped --

you'll see "No estimate available" on the Order details.

If your PayPal payment is unclaimed, try to cancel it to get your refund:Otherwise, go to the bottom of your Purchase history page at eBay --

scrawl all the way down past the ads, and click More action > I don't get it:Then farrow the instructions to issue your refund or make your refund an issue.

All of the above and my suggestion is to not buy from a seller with such feedback...ever.

Sadly, I checked his overall feedback, which was 95.1% positive. I didn't realize until recently that many ebay reputations are artificially inflated by coordinated small sales/purchases from shadow accounts. Just like the feedback where "Alice" from Vermont, "Sally" from New York, "George" from wherever, and several hundred others all make 'purchases' and leave feedback, but these "Americans" all use the same broken-English phrases like "product are being good" and "I will to be buying from him again".
Ebay is a good platform, but there are, as with most large-scale purchase platforms, a small percentage of those who will exploit the platform, successfully, for a while.

Frankly, 95% feedback is pretty lousy if they have sold a significant number of items. If 1 out of 20 leaves a negative, that could just be an off day. If 10 out of 200 leave negatives, that's a real pattern and should set off an alarm.

Thanks for the very helpful data. Unfortunately I think I'm screwed. When I try to go to details, I get an error We looked everywhere.
Looks like this page is missing. If you still need help, visit our help pages." I attempted to report a problem, and ebay said I was neither the buyer nor seller for the item, probably because they pulled the listing. I attempted to contact the seller via resolution center, and it said '"something went wrong." Since that's not "Something went right", I can only assume it broke. lol At any rate, thanks again. They weren't expensive items, but it's still a shame to lose the money. On the bright side, I did learn something. Amazon's a good alternative!
