Dog food purchases

I have attempted to purchase dry dogfood on several occasions and it's a scam there is no way so many sellers can not make a simple delivery, excuses such as delivered to wrong address, there was an accident in route I can keep going. The hardest part is with all my issues I cannot get directly in touch with any Ebay customer service rep. Sellers request I drop case for refund and then no refund appears and I have no means to reopen my cases, so Ebay wins (with their commission), seller wins with my payment and i am the looser with loss of payment and no product, refund or means to get assistance from Ebay. Can anyone out there assist me????

Re: Dog food purchases

We get Chewy deliveries via USPS, Fed Ex or UPS. How can you not be "in their delivery area"? Just curious

For the OP @clcr-50  - I would never feed my dogs (kids) any food I buy on Ebay.  I shop locally and we make meat and vegetable topper that goes on their premium kibble.

Re: Dog food purchases

The last 3 sellers to leave you feedback are all dropshipping from other retail sites, which is not allowed.

It's hard to say if it's a seller problem or the other site.

Once you open a case, don't close it until everything is taken care of.

Contact your payment source and see if they can be any help.

Have a great day.

Re: Dog food purchases

Good for you.  I choose to buy my (name brand) dog food from Chewy, for the convenience, and for the prices.  My 6 year old girl, Molly, has thrived on it.

Re: Dog food purchases

Everyone, I suspect, chooses a dog food vendor that works for them.  Where do you live that there are "high delivery fees"? I purchase two 44 pound bags of my chosen brand about every 6 months.  They are delivered in front of my garage door and I drag them in.  I spend over $49 and shipping is free.  Last time, I had two 20% off coupons, and used one on each bag, still paid no shipping.

And you're registered in the US, so how could none of the delivery services not deliver to your area?

Re: Dog food purchases

Thank you for your input it is helpful, I felt it was wrong to close case before seeing refund on it's way, unfortunately I had not seen any information about it. I was so mad I never thought about going to my credit card. Thank you.

Re: Dog food purchases

I'm a computer idiot (not up on it hardly at all) but seems I sure needed to do more homework and wasn't even aware I could get reviews on Ebay site. Maybe I set myself up real good looking to save a few dollars. Thank you for sharing your information.

Re: Dog food purchases

Didn't even know I could do that, I am learning a lot from my response messages. Do I make the dispute to Ebay or the credit card company?

Your credit card.

As mentioned, you voluntarily closed the dispute on eBay and you can't open a second claim through eBay.

That's usually how stuff like this happens. Price is an important factor, but shopping lowest price with blinders on to other criteria is not the best way to shop online. Mudshark gave you some great info above on how to vet sellers. Any time you're unsure, come here and ask before making a purchase or filing a claim.

Since you closed your eBay case you have no further recourse here. You'll have to dispute the charge with your card issuer. And you might want to read up on eBay's Money Back Guarantee in case you have future problems with an order:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy...

I'll also add my voice to the chorus recommending Chewy. I get all my cats' food from them. I do it autoship, which saves money and if your order is $49 or more delivery is free.

They also have incredible customer service. A couple years ago the manufacturer changed the formulation of many of their foods with no notification, including the ridiculously expensive prescription food one of my girls eats. Sprig, who normally will eat anything that doesn't eat her first, turned up her nose at the new formula, leaving me stuck with a $70 bag of cat food I couldn't use. So I left a one-star review for the food on Chewy, just to warn others they should buy a small bag first to see if their cat liked the new formula. Chewy, who of course had nothing to do with the taste of the new formula, send me a nice note saying they were sorry Sprig didn't like it and they were refunding the cost of that bag. And they did.

I wish Chewy would deliver to me, but I'm not in one of their delivery areas, and am not willing to pay the high delivery fees.  Luckily we have a Petco nearby.  Buying from The River is a crapshoot, as I've gotten stale or damaged food, had orders canceled, or even what I suspect was knockoff brand name kibble.

Agreed about the River!  I tried ordering my cockatiel food from there a couple of times, both times I threw it away without even opening it because it looked so sketchy!

Re: Dog food purchases

For those who asked, I'm in HI, and Chewy doesn't have an outlet here in the islands, so I'd have to pay some fairly expensive shipping.  Last time I looked I was trying to get some Hill's prescription cat food for my (now passed on) cat, and although the food itself was cheaper than elsewhere, shipping costs killed the deal.

Re: Dog food purchases

Just my 2 cents, I've never been able to get any of our feral cats, or my 3 at home interested in hills science diet.  I have no idea why.  The only critters that like it are the raccoons that mingle with our feral population.

Re: Dog food purchases

It was recommended by my vet, only available by prescription and who was charging something like $80 per flat (no, nothing questionable there).  Elsewhere, I found prices ranging from $50 to $65, but none of them would ship here for anything less than full UPS, if at all.  My cat disliked it but would eat it under duress; when she died, I gave the leftovers to the local shelter.
