I bought an item, was told it was delivered, went to USPS w/tracking #, found it was delivered to the wrong person at the wrong address, NOT MY NAME NOT MY ADDRESS, buyer refuses to respond, I posted the USPS document showing tracking # and recipient info on buyer message stream, buyer refuses to respond, ebay refuses to refund me. I HAVE A DOCUMENT FROM USPS SHOWING IT WAS  NOT SENT TO ME OR MY ADDRESS BUT EBAY REFUSES TO REFUND ME. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? I'VE bought thousands of things from ebay with EXCELLENT feedback, but ebay is ignoring my evidence. What is wrong with ebay? I'm, ready to close my acc't and just use Amazon. Ebay is either lazy or incompetent. I don't get it. Their customer protection used to be good but now it's garbage, and when I all I can't speak to a person.

You're the victim of the fake tracking number scam, your seller is a scammer so don't even bother contacting them. Try messaging the ebay reps on facebook. They seem to be the most helpful with this. And yes ebay is lazy, they certainly could be more helpful.

It is worth creating a throwaway account just to get your money back.

You've already done the hard part -- getting the documentation from USPS. Now you just need to be able to deliver that documentation to someone at eBay who knows about the false tracking scam who can help you. Those folks are reached via social media.

Posting the tracking information to the seller through ebay messages, is not reporting the scam to ebay.  It is telling the seller what they already know. and they are banking on you not knowing how the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) works.  The first step is to go to your purchase history, click on the More actions button, then select I haven't received the item.  That dispute will be turned down, because tracking is checked by a computer that can only look for a Delivered scan, it cannot check the label's address.

If you read the info in the link given by eburtonlab, by opening the Best Answer, One thing you will learn is that ebay will not accept an email as proof of anything, because emails can be faked. You'll also learn why ebay has problems resolving the scam.  The link also provides the correct link to contact ebay via Facebook.

Amazon has a good return policy. I've never heard of anyone not being able to return an item. And I've never heard of anyone not receiving an item as I did. They provide a picture of the delivered item. That is FAR MORE then ebay does. And when you provide proof or the way to get proof with a simple phone call to ebay they don't bother to check. Screw ebay. I'll use other sellers.

Ebay buyer protection used to be good but now it's just trash.

If you shop on Aliexpress or Banggod you will be jumping into the scammers lair. The China based sellers on ebay are responsible for most of the fake tracking problems like the one you have experienced, and both of those sites are based in China.

If you had created a throw away FBor twitter account, and done what was suggested you would probably have a refund already.

Buyers used to have protections on ebay, now they have none.

Further - I have filled out the request to close my ebay acc't several days in a row, sometimes multiple times a day, their page says I will receive a notice within 24 hours regarding the status of my request. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY NOTICES.

If eBay, PayPal and your bank have refused the refund, that should tell you something. You haven't provided them enough proof that the item was not received.

eBay does not close accounts immediately upon request, and never have. Read the info in the link below.

What makes you think that Aliexpress or Banggod will be any different?  They are both 3rd party sites, and will likely require the same proof ebay does to get a refund for an INR, and will not accept emails from shippers or messages from a seller as proof of being scammed.  If they have communities like this one you may want to check them to see if their customers have had the same problem. We cannot prove where the fake tracking comes from on ebay but since it seems the majority of the scams comes from Chinese sellers, who are all drop shippers, and whose orders are fulfilled at chinese govt. owned warehouses in china the US and in other countries, that the scam starts in them.  Amazon reportedly kicked 60,000 China based sellers off their site, a few years back because of problems like this, and IMO if ebay did the same thing, the number of fake tracking issues and counterfeit items would probably be reduced greatly.

As for Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot... etc. Your order goes directly to their fulfillment centers/warehouses, and you address cannot be changed.

I have no idea. I got a refund for the first one from PP and I applied to the cc bank for the 2nd refund. I don't even care if I get it at this point, the whole thing is so ridiculous I still can't believe how incompetent or corrupt ebay is. Neither is acceptable, I keep telling them to close my acc't and they still haven't. So far Amazon has worked flawlessly. Cheers.

The buyer was a scammer! This happen to me before. If the buyer doesn’t answer your messages and he send it to the wrong address with the wrong name? Huge scammer
