Buyer/Seller Sourcing Question

I thought I posted this yesterday but can't find it and no notice of replies so trying again. I purchased an item for $30. I received USPS notification from the Seller, of delivery 3 days after I paid. I did not receive the purchase. The notification said delivery at 12:30pm. I checked everywhere, with mail carrier and with post office. Post Office said they had no package, and further no mail was delivered to my area at 12:30pm. My mail and packages for that day were delivered at 4:30pm. I filed a not received report to eBay. The Seller resent their USPS delivery confirmation. I then received another message from the Seller--this one all in CAPS and !!! that they had filed an eBay issue report. Seller said even if I eventually received the item, to not cancel the not received report. 4 days later, an Amazon truck pulled up and the driver handed me a package...it was the missing item. So I'm wondering how the Seller got a USPS delivery confirmation when clearly the item had not been shipped via USPS. I looked further into the Seller, who I see has negative feedback similar to my situation. Also, the Seller puts a Florida address in listing; but on Seller eBay record, it notes the Seller is in Thailand. I want to leave feedback that helps to inform other buyers. I have been on eBay for 20+ years--am always learning more. I'm not an Amazon shopper--I prefer supporting smaller eBay Sellers if at all possible, and I'm ok to spend a bit more to do this. If I was ok with an eBay Seller who uses Amazon drop-shipping, I would want to know that before I pay.  Something about this transaction just doesn't feel right. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Re: Buyer/Seller Sourcing Question

Here's your thread from yesterday. It's under "Ask a mentor" rather than in the regular discussion boards, but it did get a useful reply:

Re: Buyer/Seller Sourcing Question

My guess; seller gave you a different tracking number from USPS (already used or someone else in the area or shipped a small rock to anyplace in your zip code) then ordered the item from Amazon using their Prime Account so they could get free shipping- both a no-no at ebay and amazon.

Re: Buyer/Seller Sourcing Question

Did your package say gift receipt?

If not then they are using an Amazon Fulfillment warehouse in Florida which is allowed.

Thank you for taking them time to reply. I'm always learning on eBay--and will take more care in looking at who I am buying from. I thought I had been covering that. Now I know better. I truly appreciate your wisdom!

Re: Buyer/Seller Sourcing Question

Hi, thanks, I understand. Still doesn't explain why I got a USPS confirmation from the Seller for the item which was never shipped via USPS. Just a confusing and disappointing transaction. Anyhow, I will investigate Sellers like this more carefully in the future. Thanks for your help!
