Interesting news about ACEO size frames-

Maybe you already know this, and I didn't see it, but just in case- I went into Walmart today (which I am proud to say I honestly hardly ever do-maybe 3 or 4 times a year, if that), and stopped to check out the picture frame aisle. I was very surprised to find out that they carry ACEO size frames and in several different styles at that. Here are the two that were in the package I bought- and I got the package for less than $4.00, to boot.

Oh, maybe I better clarify that the frame in the background isn't one of the ACEO frames, it was just there when I took the picture. But I do have to say, I think someone at Walmart is doing their homework.

I don't have photo of it, but I got a lovely pewter-colored frame with roses wrought in it, at Wal-Mart, for about 3.oo. They also have collection frames that would fit an OSWOA 6x4 and ACEO side-by-side. Totally cool.

Interesting news about ACEO size frames-

One of the reasons that ACEOs 'clicked' with me straight away was the fact that I could buy 'off-the-shelf' frames. Before that I had been doing miniatures and having to order special frames all the time, some were quite expensive. Look around, and you'll actually find LOTS of them in a whole variety of stores - Michaels, Target, and even if you search ebay frames section (I think there is 2 areas for frames - by people who don't know they are ACEO size 😉 ). This size frame is also known as 'wallet' size photos - you might even look for albums this way, too. One thing to be REALLY CAREFUL of, though - is that the frame might say they fit 2.5x3.5" .... BUT the 'lip' covers the artwork by 1/4" or more, so the actual opening is less than 2.5x3.5" ~Jillian

TIP: Carry a 'Bicycle' playing card in your wallet/purse, to test how much the 'lip' might cover your ACEO. Bicycle cards are 2.5x3.5" (last time I checked).

Check Dollar Tree and other dollar stores too!!!! I've bought a bunch of really nice little wood frames and sometimes mats from there---also found some wood frames that are already double matted!!!! Never would have guessed they were dollar store frames by looking at them. 🙂

The local Dollar Store is now carrying a clear frame with a stand-up base for only $1.50. Bad part is they don't fold flat for shipping. Would have to package them in a small box. Didn't check shipping costs yet.

Sandra - I bought 2 frames from these same people - each hold 8 ACEO's. They are very well made (the seller makes them by hand & they are laser cut). I am very happy with them. The only thing was I wanted to put my ACEO's in the slots with the thin plastic holders & I had to work at it to get them in. I just have this thing about putting the art in the frame & not having a protective surface so they don't get dusty. I hope you like their frames as much as I do! Sue

Buy clear acetate and cut to same size as the ACEO. It's very thin. I use it as 'glass' for my tiny miniature doll-house scale paintings. I think acetate is acid-free. If not you may be able to spray it with 'make it acid free'.

I just won one of Gail Hogan's Kinetic Cats (yayyyy, lucky me :)). This one HAS to go in a frame, but it's painted on masonite board and is fairly thick, probably 1/8." Do you think any of the "off-the-rack" frames would accommodate something this thick, or will this have to be a custom frame job?
