Interesting news about ACEO size frames-

Maybe you already know this, and I didn't see it, but just in case- I went into Walmart today (which I am proud to say I honestly hardly ever do-maybe 3 or 4 times a year, if that), and stopped to check out the picture frame aisle. I was very surprised to find out that they carry ACEO size frames and in several different styles at that. Here are the two that were in the package I bought- and I got the package for less than $4.00, to boot.

If only the mass-producers of mats will catch up... I was looking for non-custom mats at Micheal's just before the weekend and they didn't have any with 2.5 x 3.5 openings. /Karen

and speaking of mats . . . yesterday I was working on a "mat set" that I'll be listing in my store - they'll fit 5x7 frames and allow you to "float mount" your ACEOs so you don't lose any of the art behind the mat. The mats will already be sandwiched together and I'll even provide the linen tape so you can stick your ACEO to the mat. I'll offer either white or black mats. here are 2 samples: Still have to take a few more sample photos and then put 'em in my store. Also gotta figure out a fair price - accepting suggestions/thoughts!!! -Ann

It doesn't show in the photos, but there's even a spacer mat (between the back and front mats) to allow a little extra room for the thickness of the ACEO plus tape behind it. And I plan to offer a set with foam core for the spacer for ACEOs that are thicker than standard matboard.

Those look great Ann. I love floating art. Think that is perfect for ACEO's because of the size limitations, most use up every little bit of the 2.5 X 3.5" Susie

I bought those same frames at Walmart. They have other styles as well in ACEO size. I've been trying to get Aaron Bros. to sell ACEO frames but so far they won't budge. Would you believe they sell a lot of 2 1/2 X 3"???

I have so many little frames that hold the 2.5 x 3.5 inch size pictures, but, as Jillian said, the lip or 'rabbet' on all four sides is 1/4 inch wide! Covers up much of the picture! I've searched online to find 5 x 7 matte cut out to fit ACEOs without covering them up...this idea Ann has is sure to be a huge hit! :)

OK folks - so what do you think is a fair price for my mat "thingys"??? I have an idea (between $5 and $8, cause they have to be less than the cost of my original ACEOs, **sigh**), but want to get thoughts from others - what seems reasonable?? I have to get a couple other things done in the next few days, but then I'll be able to get back to the mat project and get them listed. . . Glad you think I have a market for 'em. -Ann

One of my buyers just told me she found a very nice frame at Target's which holds five ACEOs perfectly. Might be worth checking out! Denise

I went to Aaron's last night, and while they had many 2x3 and 2.5x3" frames, they also had a few (very few) 2.5x3.5" - but I DID really like the ones they had and there was not 'lip' problem.
