Fake bids

Hi all, I have experienced a bidder 2 weeks ago that bid left feedback and stated they've submitted payment. Won't answer emails so now I have reported them to ebay. Also this week I just received an email from a bidder who claims that they did not bid on my item and someone stole their password. I suggested that they contact ebay for a bid retraction. My reason for this post is to "get the word out" and maybe watch for trends. I am not really sure if this is common? I haven't really ever seen it before. Both of these bidders didn't have any current feedback and I am not sure why it is happening. My aceos aren't expensive either. Thanks and I hope your sales go a little smoother than mine. I have blocked the first bidder and when the 2nd one gets their bid retracted I will be blocking them too. Thanks for your time, Joy

Thanks for asking, Faery. I was wondering what the B was too, as I scratched my old redhead & asked myself, "Why do I feel soooo blonde." Also, thanks for the info, Kathy, I'll pop over & check it out..... and add about a dozen names, if they're not already there. ~Diane~

I went over to the site but I don't see list being started. Is there one? and what discussion is it under? JB

All the ones I mentioned previously who seemed to be questionable are no longer registered users of ebay so they wouldn't be doing any more bidding at this time anyway. JB

I don't think anyone has started a thread yet, so feel free to go ahead and start one. I'm glad to hear that some of these bidders are no longer registered. They'll keep coming back, though. I've seen some of these Chinese fraudsters who sell bootleg DVDs go NARU, and 10 minutes later they're back with the same products. -- Kathy

Fake bids

I got my fvf back $1.11 and I just now see that although they didn't pay for item or respond in anyway that they can still give me a negative on a transaction that didn't happen when it was entirely their fault. I didn't know this or perhaps I would have not bothered as it is a nuisance to do , however if you do apply for fvf and get it you still are not treated well as it can bite you in the butt. Is this a way E bay has of getting to keep fees where there has been no sale. Have I got the message right? Although I have grey hair I was once a true blonde. Guess it is showing or I wouldn't be sailing in this boat. Anyone else know of any such rules that bite a seller in the butt in the end? Sher

"Is this a way E bay has of getting to keep fees where there has been no sale." Absolutely. This is one of the reasons why many sellers (myself included) have stopped reporting non-payers. A non-payer can still leave negative feedback and ding your stars after they have received a strike. In the case of these fake bidders, they're leaving people positive feedback without paying, so you can file an UPI dispute without fear of retaliation. So these scammers are doing us a favor with that feedback. I have had a LEAST three non-payers this year who threatened me with negative feedback if I gave them a strike, and eBay wouldn't do a thing. It has to be an absolute direct threat, like "I will neg you if you give me a strike." If the non-payer emails you and says, "Just reminding you that I haven't left feedback yet," eBay considers that a statement of fact, not the veiled threat that it clearly is. When this happens to me, I drop the dispute. It's not worth a neg and losing my search standing and discount over 23¢. -- Kathy
