In total agreement! I was away from Ebay two years then when I returned hardly anything sells. Buyers making ridiculously low offers....not worth the investment

Wow, I think we need a better seller friendly website or eBay should do more to accommodate it's customers (including us). I just returned after being away two years and so far the sales are pitiful! If things don't turn around soon I will be donating to the local thrift store

This is an old thread, but same old issue just getting worse.
1) Ebay charges for everything, you can not get around that. They charge for selling, they charge for shipping plus all the other extras.
2) They want you to reduce the price and automatically set - Best Offer - and a price even though you can reject it.
3) They charge you for the cost of shipping and sometimes tell you you can't charge more than the going rate. But if we get charged a fee of the shipping fee how is it more than the rate of shipping. The rate of shipping is therefore not inclusive without adding ebays shipping fee charges.
4) ebay discounts for shipping aren't really discounts if you have to pay ebay a fee for shipping cost. As well inconsideration of shipping we don't sell much because of the ridiculous agreement between China and USPS to deliver a SMALL PACKAGES for a lot less than shipping a first class letter of 1 oz (currently $0.55) half way around the world yet it would cost you way more to send something 1 mile up the road. Way to USPS on backing the USA retail market (sarcasm)
5) ebays states to describe the item as best as possible with all the terms of the sales. yet ebay specifically does not review any seller terms such as NO RETURNS, AS IS, returns at buyers expense, etc... Along side that ebay sets up returns and require you to pay return shipping with what ever a buyer states thus sometime getting back a completely different item. Ebay does absolutely nothing to remedy these type of scenarios.
6) I choose to sell on ebay and I do so with limited effort. I ignore ebays reduce pricing and best offer formats. My prices are based on what I would like. With that, the items I list (limited to my free listing per month) sometime recycle for months before even getting a bid. If someone messages me I'll consider it.
Just remember Posting on ebay is not required you can use other sources to sell your goods or create your own facebook, instagram, etc...

I Just started selling on eBay and I’m looking for other options. I have my items dirt cheap and still can not get them sold. I did an experiment to see if it was me or if people were just not using eBay. I listed a kids like-new underarmour sports pants AND shirt, $5
including shipping! Basically giving it away!!! And this is a popular brand with boys right now and it’s not cheap in retail stores. It’s been on there for days and no hits!!! NO ONE!! I see many people are selling items for way too much and when you add in shipping, it’s not worth it. But the truth is even when the items are listed for next to nothing, they are not selling either.

The original intent of eBay was for people to clean out their closets and make a bit of money in the process. Basically, a digital yard sale. The problem is Retailers came in (many of whom were sold the "drop ship makes money lie") and started selling "Like New" or "Refurbished" etc and started treating eBay as a full scale retail market. They set idiotic reserves and drive up costs. Then regular people have a similar item to sell and convince themselves that their used stuff is worth way more than it is.
Thus, people with brains wont pay retail prices (or nearly retail) for used stuff so much of it goes unsold.

I completely agree. I’m going to pull everything off sale from eBay this weekend and put it on amazon and poshmark. It’s very disappointing really.

I will be leaving ebay soon..since they started the good until canceled it keeps alot of duplicate products available at the same time and forces sellers to lower prices. My watchers that used to be potential buyers are now other sellers with same product looking to see what your item sells for. Fees are way to high. People buying and canceling non paying and so on...very different now..not happy with having to keep lowering prices....

Same here! I can't believe how low you have to go, almost or actually free after fees! Im getting out. I hear ebay buries your listings, doesn't put your new on top only once in a blue moon to keep you excited. I mean real giamond rings worth 3,000 I can't even sell for 500.00 people only want to 3.00 free shipping for clothes. So I pay them to buy it. EBay has become a joke!
