It's been years since something I sent was broken. How do I proceed?

the buyer asked for a return. the pictures show an item clearly broken. Why would I want it returned to me? How do I go about making a claim with UPS?

Two items shipped the same day and the boxes are smashed....think that's a coinsidence? So now $36+ shipping between both boxes (because shipping rates are off the hook as it is) comes out of my pocket since the shipping amount is not refunded to me....
