Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Am I the only one that is concerned with ebay's recent increase in final value fees?  Ebay is making it hard to make even a small profit off items sold!

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I sold something for $330 and ebay took $44 in fees. What is going on here? This is robbery.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I sold an item today for $1779. Ebay took $236 from my sale. Seems very unfair. I understand charging a final sale fee, but taking over $200 out of my pocket is ridiculous.

I used to use PayPal payment but eBay ask to do update the payment method which no more paying to my PayPal account. But the fee is crazy compare with before, I sold a jacket for $830, and eBay took $115 from it? Is that how it goes now?

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I just found out that I was charged $1.91 for an old computer part (graphics card) that sold for $8! That's 24% fees!! Even if I take into account the shipping discount that I got through ebay, that brings the total I received to $10.35 - so if I consider the fee to be on that amount (which should not be the case else the entire aspect of shipping discount through ebay ends up being a scam), it is still 18.45%. What is this????!???!

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I have questions about how I was being charged $100.00+  a month nearly every month, while selling a small number of items @ 30.00 each. But contacting ebay is like pulling teeth. I recently put in for a call from ebay. When I did finally get a call from them, lo and behold, the call was cut off... with no resolution to the issues at hand.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Lol I can't believe this is from 2013, I'm recalculating my entire inventory realizing I no longer profit off anything because the FVF's are SO high it's just insane (12.55-14.55% + $0.30 per transaction).  If I charge any more to make up for that, I will not sell my products because I'd be charging more than the initial supplier to keep up with eBay fees. That's on top of already paying annually for my store's subscription. I don't see how I can realistically sell here anymore.

Ebay Charging Sales Tax on Sales from Different States is Illegal Call the IRS and Complain I just did and They said they will catch up to them Someday but Complaints Could Speed up the ? Process.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Not to mention the "double dipping" of lumping in postage with your final value fee...  charging a percentage which includes postage is plain WRONG!!! Especially when eBay knows that your'e not gaming the system (by charging huge postage amounts in order to up profit). How does eBay know this you might ask? Because I buy my postage through ebay!

hey no fees on shipping I could just list the item for $1.00 and the shipping for the amount I want for the item say $1000:

And hey no eBay fees on that large amount......Oh and this did go on, and is the reason for such fees on shipping.

Exactly why I dropped out and opt for more sensible selling options. Quite honestly,  I could care less if eBay went belly up tomorrow. They've become a greedy and illogical company. I wish that they were like the 1990's ebay!!!!

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

The IRS said they "will catch up to them some day"? Love it.

Due to a fairly recent ruling by the US Supreme Court, individual US states, if they so desire, can now charge state sales tax on online sales.  The state sales tax is calculated on the buyer's delivery address.  eBay charges the tax to the buyer, collects it from the buyer and remits it to the appropriate state treasury.  There are about 45 states now who have this legislation in place.

Evidently you (as well as the IRS) are out of the loop.  Where is the rock located that you (as well as the IRS) are slowly crawling out from under?

Complaints could speed up the process? Complaints about an entirely legal charge?

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Why should we have to be charged for it in our payout %.  I don't like how it is calculated.  Price sold + shipping cost + any handling charges + sales taxes = total you are charged % for final value fees.  I don't think the last 3 items should be included cause they are being paid by the buyer/seller to the 3rd party, so why should I have to lose money on my sale because ebay chose to change the policy.  I too don't like how PayPal had been taken out of the picture, it was a smooth running operation for me.  Buyer paid and I had payment no delays.  I have had to drop down from a Basic store (which kept going up) to a Starter Store that fits my budget.  Now I really don't make enough, even as a hobby, to stay in business.  My store is like a Yard Sale find, sometimes new items but most pre-owned.  Wish they would reconsider how they calculate final value fees.
