there is a charge for the shipping label, yet i didn't use it because this was my first sale. I was given the instructions to ship by a certain date along with the ship to address. As a seller do we receive some sort of discount on the shipping. I got my first lesson because i only estimated $100.00 for shipping, but it was $231.00

it's apparent the OP is not sure what to make of this....
I am assuming it wasn't really "sold" via ebay channels
BUT....
according to this, 1 was sold (unless the OP marked it..I don't know)
but this indicates there are still 9 more available?

"What refund do you think you are supposed to get? The $100 that the buyer paid for shipping is just part of their total payment which will be put in your account."
I made that suggestion under the following assumptions:
(1) Yes, the buyer paid $100.00 for shipping.
(2) The seller bought $100.00 postage through eBay and printed a shipping label.
(3) The seller did not put the label on the package.
(4) The local post office charged the seller $231.00 for postage.
(5) Meaning the seller essentially left that $100.00 label sitting on a desk or kitchen table or even still in the printer tray.
However -- there seem to be other questions at play in this thread, including: Did the "buyer" even pay through eBay?
If not, how was the seller able to buy/print a shipping label through eBay?
The OP, a new seller, has asked if he/she is supposed to mark his/her listing as "sold." That's a fairly troubling question.

"it's apparent the OP is not sure what to make of this...."
I am afraid many clues have been missed by the OP . . . . .
While it is certainly possible the OP has/had nine or ten sets of this china, it seems unlikely to me.
The eBay item number of the one "sold" set is the same as the current listing. This would make sense if there are, in true fact, multiple sets.
I am a little mystified by the listing category chosen by the seller.

@tud029 wrote:is it my responsibility as a seller to market sold? I don’t see where I could do that and it looks like eBay has it marked as sold. if I’m missing something, could you please show me the link that I need to select to mark it Sold
No, the first sale (of 91 total available) has already been marked as sold by eBay. According to eBay Terapeak Research, one item has been sold and paid for from that listing.
It looks like you made a mistake when you set up the listing. You said that you had 91 of these sets available, but I suspect you meant that you had one set with 91 pieces, right?
Unless you have more of these sets to sell (exactly like the first one) then you need to end the listing, before someone else tries to buy one. Here's how:

I wish you luck with that sale. I shudder when I see a listing like that. I've shipped over ten thousand packages and there is no way I would attempt that. I hope you have some experience with packing a sale like that to avoid breakage. Others are trying to help with your postage issue and your mistake on the listing which indicates you have multiple other sets available to purchase.
I post this advice often, but new sellers need to list a few low dollar (easy to pack) items to sell to get hands on experience with how things work. It's best to learn how to create listings, get paid, pack items & print postage when so much money isn't at risk.

Monica,
Yes, the entire set sold.

I will do some more research. I understand that i probably should have done more research before listing such a big item. I appreciate your honest feedback. I have learned my lesson. Not worried too much about the loss on this sale. We are purging and selling items we no longer need or want.

It's one set of China and 10 place settings.

You are correct, one set 91 pieces. thank you for the link.

You currently have an active listing which says you have more sets of these dishes available. You need to END that listing immediately.
This is the listing:

I appreciate your concern. We have wrapped them well and are confident they will arrive in perfect condition. We used packing paper, bubble wrap, Stretch wrap and popcorn in each box. Thank you

I revised it. I was told ending it can be confusing to the buyer.

The buyer already purchased. Who told you it would confuse the buyer to end your second listing? It has nothing to do with the one that sold. You revised to show you still have a set of 91 dishes to sell, which I believe you have stated you do not. You need to end the active listing if you have no more of these dishes to sell.

I don't know who told you that, but the opposite is true: Your buyer is going to get very confused when he sees that this china set is still for sale as well as having been sold to them.
The only reason you have an active listing is that you set it up wrong in the first place. If you had set it up for one set, it would have ended when it was purchased. You do not have a set for sale, therefore you should not have an active listing for it. Either end the listing, or change the available quantity to zero, since that's what you actually now have available.

As I said before, and @nobody*s_perfect repeated, this listing needs to be ended.
Currently, it shows that you still have one full set available for sale, and one sold. THAT would be confusing for the buyer, and you could end up with a second buyer who expects you to ship them a full set of china.
You need to end the listing, and take the quantity available to zero. It will still show the one sale that has already been paid for and shipped. That should be easy to explain to the buyer, but they probably won't be confused by it any way.
