eBay standard envelope not working

I sold a few football cards over the weekend and used eBays new standard envelope service. I took the cards to the post office on Monday and the post office rejected my envelopes because they said they were not eligible to be tracked. This whole situation is very confusing and I have no idea what to do. Has this happened to anybody else?

i am having the same issue. only about 50% of my envelopes have tracking that works - buyers leave feedback that they received the items but no tracking ever hits the system.

@mikessms "Was told at each Post Office that these Ebay Standard Envelope labels don't need to be scanned while I'm there and a receipt printed. AVOID this statement and have them scan and print you a receipt!! "

 

It was my understanding that the counter scanners do not work on this type of tracking.  Are you saying that you actually were able to have a counter clerk scan these in?  

 

IMHO this program is "not ready for prime time"

I found out what others have already stated as well as you in your response to me. 

 

I am changing all my new/future listings back to First Class with Tracking/Receipt/Tracking History in Ebay transaction and passing the shipping expense onto the buyers again. I don't want to be ebay's guinea pig during the infancy of this program. 

 

For cards worth $5-10 each I don't want to deal with buyers saying they didn't receive something I know I packaged and paid for correctly, and then have to file a claim/prove to ebay that I deserve if I have to refund a buyer to avoid negative feedback. 

 

It is hard enough to have 1000+ sold items on ebay and have only 400 positive feedback, and have the possibility of a buyer of a $10 card ding me for negative feedback over a new program that doesn't have confirmed tracking.

eBay standard envelope not working

eBay does not provide the insurance directly. You have to make a claim with an outside company that eBay chose. The company is PiP Insurance, their website  site is pipinsure.com

One of their requirements is that you attach a copy of the customers initial email to you regarding lost/damaged product.

That's exactly how I do it. I put them in my mailbox, put the flag up, and forget about it, or if I'm going past the post office I drop them in the outside box.  

 

Most tracking will have last entry, "Out for Delivery".   Never got, and wouldn't expect, "Delivered" to be in the tracking.  I've only sent under a hundred so I only have a small sample.

 

Edited to add: I think there is a possibility that when these are hauled to the counter they get put in a different bin than outgoing 1st class mail, and possibly missing that 1st scan. If put in the drop box or out of your mailbox they go with the bulk 1st class and thru the scanners.  Just a thought.

eBay standard envelope not working

Folks, I have probably shipped 80-100 cards under this envelope program and it has worked fine for about 80% of the time.  

 

Unfortunately, for the other 20% the tracking never updates and delivery times are all over the place.  I have cards delivering in 4 days and some that are still outstanding after two weeks.  I have buyers emailing me and I am really afraid that negative reviews are going to be a result of this if the full refund of the price isn't enough for a buyer.  It is too risky to get a negative review as that is just hard to recover from.

 

I think we are going back to USPS first class.  Hopefully Ebay works with those of us that get negative reviews due to this service.

eBay standard envelope not working

Here are the specific issues we are having: (1) No tracking updates show up on the package ever, (2) Packages deliver and it never shows as delivered on eBay...I am getting positive reviews but I have no evidence of delivery, (3) Have packages over two weeks old undelivered...some show tracking info and others show absolutely nothing, (4) Customers emailing a lot on where the package is.

 

This is such a good program to move smaller value cards so I really hope EBAY is protecting sellers who are receiving negative reviews or are having to give discounts/refunds for late or non delivery.  I have already had to give two partial discounts to keep customers happy.

 

Has anyone had any success with EBAY protecting you under this program or any experience with Ebay not protecting you?  Thanks for the feedback and help!!!

eBay standard envelope not working

I was having the same issue when I started sending these out.  Turns out they were sending the cards back to me saying they are non machinable. So to the buyer it just looked like I made the label and held the card for a week. The usps said I'd have to pay the nonmachinable price to send the card. The item was non machinable due to the toploader. Hope this helps someone. Basically the 51 cent option can't be used.

eBay standard envelope not working

I have had 2 gone missing in the past week so far using this system. I had to issue refunds. One thing I did notice is that each label states that it is an "Ebay Standard Envelope", has the tracking number on it, and the item number. All anyone has to do is look up the item number to see whats in the envelope. Although anyone with much ebay experience can see the "Ebay Standard Envelope", and they know it is a trading card. I was better off using stamps for this. Please change this system, or halt it.

I have had major issues with the broken service. I made my 7th call to Ebay about it, and was advised by a supervisor to fully discontinue use of the service! I would suggest ALL of you do the same.

I am having similar issues as all of you but have seen some things not yet mentioned.

Has anyone seen the tracking status of "destination processing"? Thats the status that is having the real trouble! If the status is stuck on that status, buyers will always win the case, has happened everytime! The PIP insurance wont help also because if you lose a case on these Ebay voids the label, all status is removed, and your item states a label was created the day the case closed! PiP wont cover that!

I am now being told to contact USPS and request info on the tracking number. How, its an ebay number, USPS has zero info on it.

They know there is a problem, they just dont care, I was told exactly that by the same rep/supervisor!

eBay standard envelope not working

I'm in the same boat. I have 100% feedback and my trading card business has really started to take off since using this standard Ebay envelope service.

 

At first, the service was great. Each and every card I sent out showed tracking from my home office all the way to the buyer's address.

 

But now I've noticed that some cards get delivered from Florida to California in as little as 4 days. Others from Florida to TN or AL are over 22 days right now with no progress shown in the tracking info. It's completely sporadic and I can't rely on this service at all.

 

I now have 3 buyers asking where their card is and I have nothing but lame excuses to give them because of this lame service.  According to PIP Insure, you can't file a claim until 30 days have passed since the date the label was created. You also need a screenshot of your message from the buyer stating that they have not received their purchase.

Am I protected against shipping and delivery issues when using eBay standard envelope (e.g. lost, damage, delays)? 

You are still responsible for getting the order to the buyer in good shape. However, each eBay standard envelope shipment includes a $20 shipping protection plan on a single order and up to $50 on combined orders to help in case of lost or damaged items.

So your seller status and all related discounts can be taken away for following all the standards and rules of this new shipping 'service'. 

 

I don't know about anybody else but I'd much rather spend my time selling and not having to chase down shipments and filing claims.

 

I'll slowly but surely be going back to the more reliable and unfortunately more expensive method of USPS First Class shipping.  All this running around just isn't worth it for me.

eBay standard envelope not working

Two of the last three cards that I have ordered were marked as delivered, but I have not received them. I talked with my neighbors and none of them have my cards. Is anyone else having this issue?
