buggy tracking data for USPS Priority?

Are shipping times supposed to be presented by eBay tracking using the Seller's timezone?

I am on the East Coast US and shipped a package earlier today (dropped it off at 9:50AM at the Post Office). It was destined for California.  It's not yet noon here in the east but the eBay tracking shows that the item was in the possession of the USPS as of 1:50PM.   USPS tracking website shows the correct time.  eBay is incorrect by 4 hours exactly.   Is eBay showing the time as Greenwich Mean Time?

Hi @tfr888

AFAIK, tracking time zones reflect the time zone of the package at the time it is scanned … BUT the scanner may be calibrated incorrectly.

eBay is probably displaying GMT, but unless you're concerned about this affecting your handling time metric, I can't see why this is a big deal.  I've run into conflicting scan times in tracking data a lot in my travels.

I'm still trying to figure out why Oakland, CA handled one of my latest ESUS so many times.  Everyone says there's not enough tracking on ESUS.

Try looking it up on the Parcelsapp site.  I've found that it sometimes gives pretty detailed information on the scan events.

Yes @tfr888. Acceptance scans are often displayed in GMT. Scans that follow should be reflected with your time zone.

What time zone is eBay using on the timestamps of posts in this thread?  It's not eastern US time and it isn't GMT. Looks to be west coast US.
