What happens if buyer doesn't pick-up the item?

Sold an item for $1,200 and sent it with signature required. It's been 10 days since it arrived at the sellers post office and at day 15 it will be returned. The buyer hasn't said anything about changing his mind or wanting to return the item. Is it an automatic refund if the post office returns the item as unclaimed?

I wasn`t planning on reshipping to those troublemakers in the first place. My concern is how not to lose money from this transaction since it is not my fault. But I guess ebay will side with the scammer, as always.

See my above post and go with option 1: the partial refund. It's your best shot because it's fair, so the buyer might take it and move on.

I’m curious would you have to give them the money back knowing that there was a signature confirmation and they still refused to pick up the item?

Please clarify:

if the buyer then opened up a MBG case saying item not delivered. 

would it be found in favor of the seller or buyer if they didn’t pick the package up?
