I does use USPS for little packages Ain't got no other choice. I quit using them years ago when they added $4 extra on anything > 22" I buy stuff on here, last 2 large packages took > 15 days one now shipped 1-6 and now 500 miles wrong direction and they is saying "weather delay" in Atlanta where its 50s and sunny
guess clear weather hinders they job Only think I can think of, is its so much easier to drop off at post office vs using 100x better UPS or FEDEX

I ONLY use USPS for everything. I've never found USPS to be more expensive than Fedex or UPS and as long as measurements and weight are accurate, there aren't any surcharges assessed after the fact.

I've found the effort/time spent to be the same no matter which of the three you use, but that's likely dependent on how your local places are staffed.

The weird spaces in this post make me think that some kind of "spoiler tag" has been used and I need to highlight the spaces to reveal the hidden words that will allow this post make sense.

For large items like guitars or amplifiers, i only would use UPS or Fed Ex (only if customer insisted). In my experience, USPS can be limited (uncapable couriers) in delivery of heavy or large items and can cost more. (large dimensions like guitar boxes) The biggest box I would use for USPS would be their large flat rate boxes.

UPS is always more expensive than USPS.
FEDEX Ground is always the roughest handling among the major carriers, and the boxes arrive dirty and beaten up. Do not use them because it would take me more time and effort to bulletproof my shipments to save a small amount of money. They are as unacceptable to me as RPS was before FEDEX bought them, and FEDEX managed to make them worse than they were.
When I buy from someone who uses FEDEX Ground, I stop buying from that vendor.

"UPS is always more expensive than the USPS".
Please provide evidence of this. 😂
I don't get why people post such blatantly incorrect information.

In many, many years of shipping, I have never seen a lower UPS price than a USPS price for ground shipping with comparable delivery time.
And UPS has now discontinued their hybrid service which created an illusion of lower UPS prices.

I have never gotten a quote for USPS shipping on a guitar (large double box) that was less or even close to what UPS charges.

You obviously seem unaware how larger package surcharges are applied, and how in many cases both UPS and Fedex are often cheaper than USPS. Especially when the package has a side over 22" as the OP mentioned.
With your very limited knowledge pool about the subject you shouldn't make such claims.
'UPS is always more expensive than USPS."
It's literally so blatantly incorrect it's comical.

Or if you even have local UPS/Fedex. 40 miles round trip for UPS for me. I don't even know about a Fedex drop off location. Fedex I think will pick up, as will UPS, but it can take days in my rural area and I won't get an acceptance scan that I'm aware of.

I typically use USPS exclusively for when the longest side is 18" or less.
Between 18-22" it can go back and forth which is the better value.
Over 22" UPS Ground is more likely to beat USPS Ground Advantage.
I offer generic services and use the best value from both UPS and USPS which will depend on the size of the package.

Location is a factor.
Oddly I'm not in a rural area and fedex has no place near me that offers acceptance scans except for Walgreens that can do it.
So I don't offer Fedex. But for larger packages where the seller only offers USPS. I can see their point. Sucks to pay nearly double in shipping. You can see my image above for one of my packages.

Most items that i do ship that are large are typically much larger and heavier so I tend to stay away from USPS regardless. When i do ship expensive guitars (double boxed) many times i use next day to 2-day air shipping as well. I find that UPS or FED EX handle large guitar boxes better than USPS in general. YMMV I don't really like FED EX because they don't honor their insurance over $1500 (roughly) even if you pay for more.
I love USPS Priority Flat rate boxes for other items but can understand that if someone is selling items under $100, it may eat into their margins too much.

I have to agree with tobaccocardyahoo on Fedx. I live in a rural area and by the marks left it seemed as if it was just shoved off the truck and drug to the side of my gravel driveway not even near the house. Maybe the driver was mad for having to drive all the way out here? I was lucky that the box was only damaged, it could have easily been much worse with such rough handling.
Since then I avoid Fedx deliveries if at all possible.
