WHY DO ANYONE USE STILL USPS ON LARGE PACKAGES???

I does use USPS for little packages   Ain't got no other choice.    I quit using them years ago when they added $4 extra on anything > 22"     I buy stuff on here, last 2 large packages took > 15 days     one now shipped 1-6 and now 500 miles wrong direction and they is saying "weather delay"  in Atlanta where its 50s and sunny

guess clear weather hinders they job            Only think I can think of, is its so much easier to drop off at post office vs using 100x better UPS or FEDEX

Re: WHY DO ANYONE USE STILL USPS ON LARGE PACKAGES???

Just punched up the numbers for a 15x15x15 5 lb. package, USPS Ground versus UPS. Zone 1 and zone 8. Quotes from Pirate Shop.

Zone 1. Ground Advantage: $15.74. UPS, cheapest. UPS Ground: $15.13

Zone 8. Ground Advantage: $36.62. UPS, cheapest. UPS Ground Saver: $38.48.

So while UPS is a whole $.61 cheaper  to zone 1, UPS is $1.86 more expensive to zone 8.

Plus the fact that I have NEVER had to deal with after the fact charges from USPS.

Five pounds is not something anyone would consider to be heavy for this discussion.

Do it for 20lbs.

...and then 20x8x50 for 20lbs. NYC to LA.

I'll let you choose the zipcodes but you don't have to even bother.

Interesting fact, for a box 15x15x15, 1 lb. to 21 lb. the rate does not change for USPS or UPS

Re: WHY DO ANYONE USE STILL USPS ON LARGE PACKAGES???

Because it is the only service that is available here. FedEx and UPS are city / urban services. FedEx will not even pick up here, and UPS charges $16+ to do so (and doesn't show up half of the time that I have scheduled pick up.) And no, I don't have an hour to drive into the city to ship at a dropoff site.
