WATCH OUT WHEN DOING REFUNDS (EBAY being sneaky)

Customer opened refund and gave reason "customer ordered wrong size".  Just noticed when giving a refund that EBAY automatically set to give customer refund for ORIGINAL SHIPPING (which they are NOT entitled to).

EBAY changed their refund page so now you have to SLIDE "blue dot" to the left to TURN OFF "shipping refund".

EBAY is making so many changes it is hard to keep up!

Hi, I did 1 a partial refund & that was thru Pay-Pal. E-Bay did not know I refunded some of the money. Could you just do it that way thru Pay-Pal?

If you do a refund through PP you have to call ebay
and let them know so they will refund your FVF.

i was told by ebay's ummm ... customer service (but seller's aren't customers from their attitudes) that IF YOU ACCEPT RETURNS (in order to keep your TSR status) AND OFFER 30-DAY RETURN POLICY ... IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT REASON THE BUYER GIVES .... 'BUYER'S REMORSE' OR NOT, THEY WILL PRINT THE LABEL AT SELLER'S COST AND AUTO-ACCEPT THEM RETURN.... yet another impeccable policy and responsible decision making on ebay's part. while sellers are having to bend over backwards and take it just try and keep sales up ....

Go in your settings and opt to provide a RMA for all returns and this will eliminate EBay's automated **bleep**. You still have to accept the return but at least it removes them from auto doing anything.

If you accept FREE returns (required to be a TRS) then YES, you pay return shipping no matter the reason. That's what "free returns" means - seller pays return shipping for any reason, or no reason, at all. It's been that way for some time now.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Nice trick. Thank you. Sometime the item is so inexpensive that the cost of the return postage exceeds MY cost of the item. In that case I will still issue the refund without argument if it is justified, but I don't want to spend the money to return it.

Or maybe it arrived damaged and there is no point in sending it back I just tell them to dispose of it.

This provides the necessary breathing room to contact the buyer, tell them to keep it, and eliminate that return postage expense.

Thanks again.

at least that is how ebay interprets it.  free returns for Valid Reasons.  BUYER's REMORSE has never been a valid reason, but now ebay in their convoluted logic has even removed buyer's remorse from seller protection scheme it seems....

You do not need to offer free returns to be a TRS.  I'm a TRS, but do not get the TRS Plus benefits because I don't offer free returns.  Being a seller of used items, no way will I offer free returns in exchange for the minor benefits of TRS Plus.

You are correct.  I misspoke. Free returns are required to get the TRS plus listing designation and discount.

Had a buyer open a refund on painted cookie jar. Jar arrived fine, but she said it looked like a 2 year old had painted the item. Gee whiz, I dont even own any paint like that. eBay sided with them, got full refund and seller eats that plus return shipping. eBay is only concerned with how good they look, IM DONE

Ebay sucks so bad. Thinking of quitting. No wonder Poshmark and other apps are leaving Ebay in the dust. I refunded a buyer for a bogus excuse (said my listing title was deceptive) it wasn't. But I didn't want any issues, so I refunded them. 10 days later, I still haven't received my item. They have my money and my item. They're not answering my messages and I only get a generic resonse from ebay. This sucks

Never, ever refund before receiving your item back.  You have just lost the item and the cash now.  Ebay will not help you now.  You just learned a lesson.  Hope it wasn't too much money.
