I have tape machine for water activated tape. I purchased some tape for it at a flea-market but it says Walmart. The same stuff they use. Would that be ok to use? I don't want buyers to think I drop shipped it from wally. I would not want a Neg over it. It is great tape however.

I have a very good machine for it and it works very well.

The only thing I do watch for is "dodgy" pictures and headlines, that might offend, with the newspaper that I often use for bulk filling

I do the same exact thing. I too use newspaper as filler & I screen it as well. I won't use anything that could be construed as controversial, nothing about elections/political, nothing too grim, no shootings or anything violent (I'm in Chicago). Years ago I read a thread about how some buyers like to read our local papers so that's when I started paying attention to what I used. So for me it's nothing 'dodgy' as well 🙂 ... only bland things like weather, recipes, fashion, ads, etc. I do the same with my boxes. I won't use anything that had alcohol or certain products or anything spicy, etc. So far so good. 🤞
Because newsprint can be messy & transfer to hands and our items (I sell books), I actually wrap it in white tissue paper. It's a bit more work but it looks good and I don't worry about a neg from that. I'm sure some buyers probably unwrap it to see what's in there. I know you can get blank newsprint, but like you said "free is best."

...then use ebay tissue paper inside the box.
OP -- It might not be very professional, but you could add a blurb to your listings that you use recycled packaging--including Walmart tape.
