Using packing tape that says Walmart

I have tape machine for water activated tape. I purchased some tape for it at a flea-market  but it says Walmart. The same stuff they use.  Would that be ok to use?  I don't want buyers to think I drop shipped it from wally.   I would not want a Neg over it.   It is great tape however.

Re: Using packing tape that says Walmart

I use my Ebay tape on Etsy packages and haven't had any problems.

I don't think it would be a problem using WallyWorld tape.

Have a great day.

Re: Using packing tape that says Walmart

I wouldn't use Wal-Mart tape on an eBay package.  I think you're right to be nervous about it, for exactly the reason you mentioned.  Wal-Mart is a big box store so it may very well look like drop shipping.   Drop shipping is permitted, but it doesn't look great to buyers, especially when it's so obvious.

I don't think there's a problem with using eBay tape for other reselling platforms, however, (though I personally don't do it), as most people recognize that many of us sell across several platforms.

Everyone's going to have a different opinion but I personally don't think it would be a problem to use the Walmart tape.   I buy a lot of my necessities from Amazon so I have a ton of Amazon boxes.  Why shouldn't I recycle & use them?   I've been using them for the last several years for my large size book lots and my  buyers haven't been concerned.

It's never been a problem.  Sometimes I try to cover up some of the words with brown tape... but I don't always succeed in covering all of it.

If you are worried, take a wide tip felt marker and cross out the name.

I re-use Amazon boxes, too. But  this Walmart tape is clearly first use, unlike a re-used box. Thus the risk of being seen as a package that is coming from Walmart.

I would err on the side of caution.  You never know what a buyer is going to get upset about.

I'm glad you posted a picture. I was wondering what it looked like.  Tape is expensive & I go through a ton of it. If it saves you $$ I would still try to use it.  You could always get one roll of brown tape and put a bit on just the WALMART if you don't want to use a marker.

I don't have the kind of space (or profit) where I could buy new boxes.   So I've always used recycled boxes.  I used to use boxes that said eggs, hamburger patties & salad... and now all Amazon boxes.    But in 20+ years .... almost 13,000 feedback (several accounts) ... there hasn't been a single complaint about the box.  I'm an extra careful packer so that's what I hear the most about my packaging.   I find that complaints are usually out of left field, nothing that is expected.

I know the issue here is about dropshipping.

But I will say this .. if you truly  aren't comfortable, then it isn't worth it to use it.

Do what feels right for you.   😉

Exactly, free is best and I use any tape available. My aim is solely to get the item to the buyer in one piece.

The only thing I do watch for is "dodgy" pictures and headlines, that might offend, with the newspaper that I often use for bulk filling

Re: Using packing tape that says Walmart

OK, could do that with just one wide marker "blackout" 😎

ETA: and a straight edge could be used to look better than my shaky hand effort.

Or 2-3 strokes in strategic spots.

Re: Using packing tape that says Walmart

Personally, I wouldn't use it because of the drop shipping assumption.  I do re-use shipping supplies, but go to great lengths to cove over identification, or use a "this is recycled packaging" sticker.  Another question to ask yourself...  why was this tape at a flea market?  was it a seller with a bunch of different tapes etc.  like seconds and over-runs?   or just a seller with a few rolls of WM tape, which are most likely Employee theft from a store or warehouse?

I haven't used water tape in over 40 years at my job #1.
