Are sellers still experiencing issues with packages shipped through the USPS Miami center not being scanned? If so are they to both residential addresses and FF addresses? We have a package that was last scanned as arrived at the center on 10/06 and nothing since. This pre-dates weather issues and the final destination was 1 mile from the distribution center.

Miami USPS distribution scan issues have been well documented over many years.

Anything with a substantial purchase price gets sent UPS Ground to most Miami area addresses. I don't hesitate to throw a Sig required on them as well.

The freight forwarders can't play those games with the UPS drivers. They show a delivered scan every time.

It will most likely never get a delivery scan if it hasn’t already. Open up a case ASAP. While that case is open, try to open an insurance claim as well. This might at least get you an actual email from a real person who will attempt to have the package retroactively marked “delivered”. At the very least they may tell you it’s delivered in a direct email, otherwise you will get nothing more than a prompt telling you the package has been delivered to a freight forwarder, unfortunately they don’t post this in the tracking details. However the semblance of evidence is typically enough to make the buyer back down from INR claims.

I am so wary of anything gong to Miami or Florida, especially to a Freight Forwarder that I always add signature confirmation, and if it is a expensive item, insure it. The Miami distribution centers are black holes where packages just seem to disappear. Many I think are delivered but simply not scanned. This allows scammers to take advantage of the lack of scanning.

I'm watching a (fortunately inexpensive) package on its way to the Doral reshippers now. It will be interesting to see what happens when it gets to the Miami area. If the worst happens (it never gets scanned as Delivered) and the buyer files an Item Not Received dispute, it won't hurt much to refund, but I will definitely be zinging USPS with a Missing Mail claim for reimbursement. A retroactive Delivered status update ain't gonna cut it.

Best way to avoid issue is getting the tracking updated before claim closes.

Ayup; I'm following its progress daily and will update here whenever there are new developments. It's a Media Mail shipment (not from this account) that only just left Chicago in the wee hours of this morning, so I don't expect to see anything interesting before the weekend, or maybe early next week.

My solution is identifying if my item is going 'freight forward'.

If it is I take a photo of package with postage on it and send it to the buyer as a friendly email that 'your item has been mailed' and I understand it is going freight forward to 'country name' and it sometimes does takes longer to get to you.

I have several still open tracking items for a year but have received positive feedbacks from these buyers.

I never inquire a buyer if an item has been received.

And I never waste my time opening a claim with any shipper unless there is an email from a buyer.

Okay, following a couple of Weather Delay entries (which, for Florida, is understandable), it has now arrived at the regional Miami facility in 33152. The official guesstimate for delivery to the reshipper is Monday the 21st. More news as it happens.

It doesn't matter the delivery information has to be available to the shipper. USPS tried this once with me and I simply filed a complaint with the USPS OIG. They never could provide the delivery information external or internal nor could they find the package. I had a check from USPS in less than 2 weeks.

Thanks for the suggestion. Stallion Express has changed their Economy service to be UPS. I just don't have Economy shipping on my coins, so I have been using USPS GA. Might be an idea to change the shipping profile to say Economy instead of Standard and use UPS when it's going to a freight forwarder.

I had one to Doral recently. Was mentally prepped to take a loss (low $) if it came to that. It got a "delivered" scan😊 Of course, not out of the woods yet, buyer seems to be solid,

I don't think UPS is considered economy unless perhaps it is UPS Surepost and in that case USPS makes the actual delivery.

UPS Ground is consistently more expensive than USPS GA for the lighter shipments here in the states but is as close to a sure thing as I can get for the expensive items.

I just did a label tonight (I haven't used the service offered very much) and it printed a Parcel Select USPS label for the UPS shipment, but the tracking shows on the UPS website. So I probably have that Surepost, so it sounds like I'm not going to have any better luck with delivery confirmation than using GA.
