USPS ISC NEW YORK and ISC CHICAGO delays: a complete disaster

It seems that all packages arriving from abroad to ISC NEW YORK or ISC CHICAGO go through two quarantines. When a package arrives, it takes about 2 to 3 weeks (or more) to be processed (scanned) and after that it takes another 3 to 4 weeks to be released from the ISC and then it will go on its way without delay across the country.

I know that we are going through difficult times but this coronavirus crisis does not excuse everything. I ship from Europe to all over the world and there are obviously delays that are nothing compared to what happens at the USPS ISC (International Service Center).

For instance, a shipment from Europe to Canada takes less than 1/3 of the time, compared to the US, to be delivered.

Is this on purpose for political reasons or is it simply poor management?

I take the opportunity to leave a warning to all US buyers who buy from international sellers: please be very patient because the problem of delays is not in the reduced number of flights or Customs but mainly in the USPS ISC NY or Chicago. I think that no package will be lost but everything will be delivered with a huge delay.

This is completely untrue. I have received packages from ISC New York, and they were processed quickly. Its also a lie that customs has anything to do with it. It would say inbound into customs. But I have three packages that are stuck in ISC New York for no good reason. I think they are stealing things, because the missing packages have designer clothing, and other goods that could easily be resold. And people are considering giving these thives VOTING BALLOTS? Absurd.

BTW....I have two packages that have been stuck longer then two months. And I doubt they will ever show up, so NO....they are not simply going to show up after some mythical second quarantine. There is NO QUARANTINE ON PACKAGES, because Covid doesn't work like that, so they are not needed. Its simply uSPS using an excuse to steal more things then usual.

Re: USPS ISC NEW YORK and ISC CHICAGO delays: a complete disaster

I just today received a small package that was mailed to me on April 16th.

I received a second item today mailed from the exact same seller that was sent May 7th

Impossible to say what's causing the delay.

I have a package that was shipped from Spain and has been stuck in ISC New York since March 6, 2020 and 4 packages that shipped from Sweden and Great Britain and arrived in ISC Chicago on April 29, 2020. No movement at all.

But I purchased five albums from Tokyo, Japan last Wednesday and received those yesterday through DHL.

Re: USPS ISC NEW YORK and ISC CHICAGO delays: a complete disaster

I learned a lot about this matter during this crisis. There are basically 2 problems:
1. At the peak of the crisis, with the absence of international flights, orders, from Europe to the US, were shipped by boat. Now, the situation is almost normalized with the resumption of flights. This means that a package sent a month ago is likely to arrive after an order sent only a week ago.
2. Due to the reduction in staff at the ISC in NY and Chicago, the packages take a long time to be processed/scanned and also a long time to be released, but it does not happen to everyone. It's a bit random. Now, the situation is getting better with a tendency to normalize.

No Problem For My Buyers They Contact Resolution Center And Get Refunded Either If Parcel Is Economy Postage Or Registered. None Decision On Seller Side. All My Parcels From Greece Posted In USA Stucked In Chicago Since Mid Of May Till Now, Over 700$ Lost In Postages & Goods After Ebay Decisions. After 5 Years Think It's Time To Stay In My Other Site Stores As They At Least Give To Seller A Little Protection This Period Of The Pandemic

Spoiler

I am a retired Postmaster and you should not be working off the clock. You are placing yourself at financial risk by doing so. If you have an accident your insurance company may not pay. I can tell you one thing, your office Manager will not back you if you have an accident. Just from my experience. Unless you are salary, please do not work off the clock. If you were to have an accident or injury not on the clock you could be fired in the end for it. If your Manager or Postmaster disagrees, go to your union or higher authority. No Manager would condone telling anyone to work off the clock. They risk their job also. Go by the book and regulations always. If caught off the clock with parcels the Inspection Service would also consider this theft. Thanks and have a good day!

Actually, Trump never called it a hoax. He called the accusations of the Democrats a hoax. And NO, it is NOT TRUMP at ISC New York and Chicago. The post office is a liberal darling, thus far allowed to do whatever they want. That needs to change.

BTW....Look at the ISC Chicago ratings before COVID 19. Nearly 100% ONE STAR. They have always been awful. Its just more notable now.

Pelosi did call for everyone to go down to Chinatown when Trump stopped travel from China in January to prevent more infected people from coming into the country.  She was trying to accuse Trump of being racist toward Chinese.

Re: USPS ISC NEW YORK and ISC CHICAGO delays: a complete disaster

There's no excuse for USPS they have been destroying themselves for a long time before Trump, huge amounts of money have been given to USPS for last 30 years, nobody would run a company like that, fed ex ,DHL,Amazon delivery an others have had same problem with covid an their delivery times are way faster than USPS until the USPS starts running it like a company the post office will eventually be replaced just like Amazon is starting to rely less on USPS and using their own delivery drivers and other companies are following
