USPS A and B boxes

I do not see the A and B boxes listed on shipping options anymore,  are they still in use.

USPS A and B boxes

USPS discontinued Regional rates on Sunday, January 22.

The official USPS memo about discontinuing Regional rates says that we can now use those boxes at regular Priority Mail rates (based on weight and Zone). It also recommends using their "Priority Cubic" rates instead of the Regional boxes.  A recent poster pointed out that those rates can be even lower than the Regional rates for a comparable size box.  Unfortunately, eBay shipping labels don't offer Cubic pricing, but you can get it through Pirateship.

They have not been cheaper than other alternatives, such as Cubic, in some time.

I haven't used one in at least 2-3 years.

You can still use the boxes, just have to calculate the shipping with size and real weight.

Service and rates no longer available. I found I rarely used them. You can still get them at usps.com. You just have to cross out the Regional Rate markings. Some clerks are not aware you can do that, so be insistent and ask to speak to the postmaster.

So we can no longer use Box A and Box B through Ebay?

You can still use the Regional Rate boxes, and in fact, you can still order them from the USPS (at least at the time I write this.) You can use the Regional Rate boxes, you just have to use regular Priority postage calculated for the weight and dimensions (basically, the RR rate boxes are treated like the non-flat rate Priority mailing boxes.)

The Regional Rate A and B boxes are actually a really handy size for some items (I find the Regional B box is a perfect for old PC "big box" software.) If anyone else finds the RR boxes useful, you should order more now while you can.
