One month ago I decided to stop offering returns here on eBay. I'm sure every seller on here understands why, eBay does not look out for the sellers and blindly sides with the buyer all the time. I checked the box for "NO RETURNS OFFERED" on all 500 plus items I currently have listed. I know, typical buyers on here will chime in like they are an expert on this topic and I will disregard any comment from any eBay member that has nothing listed for sale here on eBay. Buyers just do not understand the seller side of this problem. As for the sellers that are wondering how to fight back against eBay's unfair returns policy, go ahead do the same, offer no returns. My sales are up about 10% over the last month that I offered returns. I have had a couple buyers contact me about items that could have been possible returns. Without the option to automatically start a return with no communication, returns are down, buyers now must COMMUNICATE with me FIRST. Perfect, that leads to good customer service. I have been able to arrange a solution when needed with these buyers. My feedback is still 100% and should stay that way now that they must communicate with me to arrange a return. I can and will still accept returns or offer a partial refund or some other creative option to resolve an issue after purchase. I could elaborate on this a bit, but I would be here all day writing a novel with all the problems eBay has created with automated returns, free shipping, and other crazy ideas they have implemented recently. I know many sellers have abandoned eBay due to these same reasons, and I am close to doing the same, but offering no returns seems to work for now.

I really appreciate your sharing your 'No Returns' experience. I'm going to do the same thing. I have changed one store over and will change the second soon and will not longer be accepting returns.
It is very helpful to read that your sales have gone up and not changed and that you are now able to deal with each buyer on an individual basis. That is how I used to handle my returns too, until Ebay started changing their policies and making it impossilbe to give good service or offer an alternative size if someone ordered a size too small for example.
I will share my story in anothe post after this one, as it explains what is happening in my store with returns.
Thanks again for your helpful sharing!

Hi,
Here is my story as to why I will soon no longer be offering returns. Others may be experiencing similar issues with returns. I sell new clothing. Buyers purchase an item and then message me saying that it was too small or that their Hubby didn't like it. Fine; no problem. Buyer pays the return shipping. I'm happy to accept the return. My listing states that in the event of a return, Buyer pays return shipping and Original shipping is non-refundable. It also states to ask all questions prior to buying. I am happy to give any measurements or answer any questions a Buyer may have.
However, the buyer then clicks on Return Item and chooses the reason for the return as being "item was not as described" (which is not true). In this case, the buyer will get free return shipping as ruled by Ebay, and I will have to reimburse them for their original shipping charge. If not, Ebay takes the money directly out of my account.
I am now out $10 because the customer ordered the wrong size.
There is nothing I can do about it.
Ebay states that it is based on the reason that the buyer chooses. In this case, an erroneous reason. Even though I show Ebay the email message the Buyer sent me stating they ordered too small of a size. The Buyer is always right and it is based entirely on the reason they choose when they click on returning an item.
Buyers have become savvy and I don't think it is an accident that they choose the wrong reason. Others choose it not knowing.
I'm getting lots of returns due to Buyers not knowing what size they wear. This used to be called Buyer Remorse, but Ebay no longer recognizes that in reality. They will state it verbally, but do not back a seller up financially.
Consequently, I'm slowly phasing out of Ebay. I've had it. Too many glitches and issues that I can do nothing about. I can't afford to list on Ebay anymore. Too bad.
I will find another way. First, I will change over to No Returns and handle buyer issues one on one as I see fit depending on the situation.
Good Luck to all of you sellers out there having issues with returns and more. I truly wish you the best!

We used to offer returns but too many people were keeping the higher end jewelry for almost 30 days then requesting a return (like they were wearing for an event or something then returning)
Now we do not offer returns, and have had only 1 person claim "not as described" and guess what?We got the exact item back, buyers remorse?

I am curious why your sales would go up 10%. Anyone have any clues to why this would be?

Right! Will do the same! Tired of buyers being untruthful to get a refund or free item. No returns! Great! Now I can nrgotiate with my customers myself. Why didn't I think of that?

So funny what people "think" on here.... SALES ARE UP BECAUSE I HAVE A NO RETURN POLICY...
as if that is going to actually make sales improve...sales are people wanting to buy your item at the price and shipping cost.....NOT that you don't accept returns! AND we all know that ebay policy will make you refund - whether you want the item back or not...NO RETURNS _DOES NOT MEAN NO REFUND.
So, i think you are trying to make a case for something and using an apple to show an orange. NOW your returns, may be less...yes you may scare them off...and maybe they don't just return something easily....but even to profess that your customer service is better?...AS long as you are happy then you are happy...BUT the idea that SALES are up due to his theory about returns is simple silly.... BE glad sales are up now...because next week...or soon...they may not....and i bet you'll find that out too.
