THIS actually started yesterday. the official USPS rate increase takes effect July 14th. why in the hell did it happen on eBay on June 30th? I called yesterday and of course as all calls with eBay goes, they have no clue. I get referred to an "expert" that also has no clue. My point is they can usually not answer my questions. I guess this is what happens when you have been on eBay since 1998.

It started yesterday for all but Media mail and Standard envelope because the shipping date is Monday July 1st.
If you are saying Media mail and Standard envelope also went up yesterday that is an issue.

I am going to offer a hypothesis for you here.....
If you purchased/printed or initiated a shipping label after an unknown (but likely determined by USPS) time on Saturday....IF that parcel can't be "in the pipeline/accepted" by the close of business (that time I eluded to previously), then the api utilized to determine calculated shipping would already be charging Mondays's (July 1) New Rate even though it is still Saturday/Sunday in June.
I always note what date the label is being generated FOR when doing after hours work (both here and at Pirateship).
This is just a guess.........

don't think a link to the selling fees page is a link to the postage change announcement...

I notice the increase starts 16 oz for Ground advantage, even if your package is 15.5 oz, not like before when it started at 16.1 oz. I ship alot of packages just below 16 oz but now the price went up over a $1 now, huge increase on about 40% of my items now.

Likely because you can't actually ship the item until Monday July 1st.

All I know is today I shipped a ground advantage item that I normally pay just over $6 to ship and it cost almost $9 and needless to say - I wasn’t pleased. That’s a hefty hike.

Yeah all my packages went UPS today.
Seems now UPS is competitive again as they were cheaper for all my packages.

Same. I generally sell a lot of action figures that hover right around that 14 15 16 ounce zone. What a effing pain

Just put them as 15 oz.
There is no rate change for say 15.5.
So no adjustment.
A lot of people don't seem to understand how rates work.
You could even put 13 oz. Since it's the same rate between 13-15.999

I get that too. I would just put in 1 pound. Easier to remember, well at least for me. The shipping rate would be the same. The break below that where the rate changes would be 12 oz, so anything 13-16 oz, could be just labeled at 16 Oz or 1 pound.

If you are talking Ground Advantage then buying a label at 16 oz/1 lb is more expensive than putting 15 oz.
It's better to put 15 oz for anything less than 15.999 to be charged correctly.
For the package I'm sending out right now if I put 1 lb or 16 oz the cost of the label is $8.00
If I put 15 oz the price is $6.66
The actual weight is 15.8.
Putting 15 is the only way to put the item in the correct pricing tier.
Unless you want to pay more for no reason.
