I have sent several items to China this summer and none of them have arrived. How do I get eBay to be more active about getting info to the buyers or, even better, getting their items to them?

You can't. They are not responsible or part of you selling/shipping things. This is simply a site to put buyers and sellers together.
Best to NEVER sell to China; once things hit China (if they do); they do not have USPS or anything to do 'tracking' so there is never proof if something gets delivered. I think DHL may work, which is not avail here on eBay.

It seems deceptive to me that international packages go thru eBay and appear to have tracking info. I haven't sold things for some years and when I used to sell, I knew that once it left this country, there was no tracking unless you used Priority International. Lesson painfully learned. Seems like it's best to only sell internationally to Europe and Australia. What do you think?

It's best not to sell international at all. Not worth the risk imo. Even if the item does arrive, if you have a retunr or dispute, you might as well kiss your item and money goodbye.

I am sorry. I have read many posts on this and they have told me that they are not responsible or part of you selling/shipping things, not tracking availible in China. So i cannot sell to you.
